Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles turned heads at the 2025 Met Gala after he made a sweet revelation about his impending wedding to fellow Olympian Junelle Bromfield.
The track and field star talked about his upcoming events. In an exclusive interview with E! News at The Mark Hotel in New York City, Lyles said that he doesn’t want to have any speeches written up for the ceremony.
"To be honest, I don't think that I can find the words written down. I think it's just gonna have to happen in the moment, like everything else in life." He said.
Bromfield competed as a track and field athlete for Jamaica in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and at the 2024 Summer Games in Paris. She won an Olympic bronze medal in the women’s 4x400-meter relay in Tokyo, solidifying her position as one of Jamaica’s up-and-coming athletic talents.
Beyond her career in athletics, she has a bachelor’s degree in law from the University of Technology in Kingston, Jamaica, which she earned in 2020.
During the interview, Noah Lyles said walking down the wedding aisle is more nerve-wracking than walking the Met Gala red carpet. The athlete was donning a Thom Browne suit with black matching shorts.
"This is my second Met, so I feel a little more comfortable. But my wedding, I might cry." He remarked.
A look into Noah Lyles and Junelle Bromfield's relationship timeline
It has taken a couple of years to get to where they are now. According to TODAY, they first met online in 2017, when Junelle Bromfield messaged Lyles on social media. It supposedly took them until 2022 to start dating.
Noah Lyles and Bromfield became engaged in October 2024, after two years of dating. The two got engaged during a romantic night with family and friends.
According to reports, Lyles took Junelle Bromfield out to an area illuminated by candles where he knelt beside a glowing "Will You Marry Me?" sign. The moment was captured in a video on social media with the caption, "To my future wife, I will love you forever."
Lyles has openly stated in interviews that he admires Bromfield’s resilience. When she suffered a series of personal losses, including her mother’s death in 2021, Bromfield supposedly went to therapy, a process Noah Lyles supported.
“I started therapy like two years ago because my boyfriend is big on therapy, and he felt as if I needed it, too. Honestly, it has helped a lot because I feel as if I’ve been suffering with survival guilt," She said in an interview with The Inside Lane.
