Scooter Braun reflected on getting suicidal thoughts after his marriage collapsed

Scooter rose to fame after managing renowned celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, and Justin Bieber. While his professional career was thriving, he faced a major setback in life after his split with his ex-wife, Yael Cohen Braun.

On the June 9 episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, cited by Daily Mail, he confessed to thinking about suicide, sharing,

"It went to a very dark place."

He continued:

"I had a suicidal thought for 20 minutes where I was like, 'If my marriage is going to fall apart, I'm not gonna be with my kids all the time.' I can't control this. I'm not gonna be this perfect image that I've presented to the world. And if I can't be this perfect image, I don't want to be here."

Braun also pointed out how people perceived he was "crushing it," seeing him establish his name in the industry as these popular stars' one-time managers.

Over time, he began getting over those discomforting and intrusive thoughts to end his life. He further explained on the podcast.

"That's not me - I would never leave my kids. I don't wanna leave anybody. Like, what was that?"

Without delving much into his equation with Yael Cohen Braun, Scooter Braun further continued,

"I don't want to go into detail, because I have a lot of respect. We're family forever. It goes both ways. It's not like there was one thing happening. Both people have to play a role in where we got to."

He admitted that,

"Things happened both ways."

Recalling those shocking days, Scooter also revealed that he was asked to join a retreat, The Hoffman Process, to cope with the divorce and continue his life even after his divorce from Yael.

He said:

"They told me that they could get me in two weeks because there was a cancellation. That was the release of Ariana Grande's Dangerous Woman album."

Despite a major release, Ariana agreed to release her songs later, waiting for her manager to get back on track.

Braun also detailed his time at the retreat, elaborating,

"It is one week of no phone, no email and intense work on your early childhood to understand why you are the way you are and to give you tools to go out in the world and understand yourself."

While discussing life with the podcast host, Steven Bartlett, Scooter gave him tips for a healthy marriage. He shared things he had ignored during his marriage to Yael Cohen Braun and advised him based on his experiences, E! News reported.

Braun suggested,

"Go on vacations together. That's something that we forgot to do: We did the vacations with the kids, we did the vacations with friends, but we didn't do vacations together, because we had three kids in five years and I think that's something I think about."

He further added,

"Also, just trust that if it's supposed to be, it's supposed to be. My journey was supposed to be exactly the way it was. Even when I found out things and she found out...about ourselves, it was exactly when we were supposed to find out."
