Dave Portnoy was trending on X recently, after a video of a fight at a pizza joint went viral. A user (@Antunes1) posted a TikTok clip from @starglizzy93 and claimed that the Barstool Sports owner/founder was kicked out of a pizzeria.

Later, they commented under their X post to clarify that the person involved in the fight was not Dave Portnoy. The One Bite Pizza Reviews host also responded to the viral clip that @DrLoupis__ reposted. He shared a screenshot of the “Trending” page and wrote,

“Momma there goes that man again! The haters are so obsessed with me they make me go viral even when it’s not even me. That’s true power! I’ve become a myth, a spook story that criminals tell their kids at night. Rat on your pop, and Portnoy will get you! 😂”

While Dave Portnoy wasn’t featured in the recent viral video, he was once kicked out of Goodfellas Pizzeria, based in Lexington, Kentucky. The incident happened in October 2018 when the popular social media personality visited the place and was allegedly served an “ice cold” slice. While Portnoy was rating the pizza “5.1,” one of the staffers approached him.

Dave Portnoy and his associate, Frankie Borrelli, were asked to leave for not having permission to shoot on the restaurant’s patio. The staff member was heard saying,

“You guys got permission to shoot on my patio today? Cool, so I’m gonna need you to make your way out this way.”

As soon as Dave Portnoy heard the staff member, he changed his rating to “0.0.” He said,

“Oh god, I’m gonna give this a 0.0. Goodfellas kicked out. National pizza review – 0.0”

He also handed back the rest of the pizza to the employee while calling the slice “trash.” Dave then started exiting the place while telling others that he was kicked out. While walking away, Portnoy claimed that it was the first time ever across 450 reviews that they were kicked out for not having permission to film.

Dave Portnoy revisited Goodfellas two years later and gave a much higher rating

After getting a “0.0” rating from One Bite Pizza Reviews, the Lexington-based pizza place and distillery received a lot of local support. In an Instagram post, the owners thanked the community for backing Goodfellas after Dave Portnoy’s controversial rating. The caption of a post from October 2018 read,

“We are blown away by the support we've received over the last two weeks and deeply appreciate your business over the years. You have reignited our purpose.”

The owners also announced at the time that they were “closing down the shop to retrain our staff.” They added,

“We're wearing our 0.0 shirts not only as a reminder of where we've been, but also our dedication to you, our Goodfellas familia. We hope to serve you soon!”

Portnoy’s first visit had a rather anti-climactic conclusion, with him allegedly getting served with a cold pizza slice. The Barstool Sports founder, during a 2020 visit to Lexington, tried another pizza from Goodfellas. Portnoy addressed his previous review and noted the improvement. He further praised the place,

“It’s also an awesome place, like, look at it outside. It’s just, sh*t went a little south, Frankie. It happens, but it’s actually a very cool outdoor spot. Distillery inside.”

Toward the end of the video, Dave Portnoy gave a much higher rating to the pizza as he said,

“Biggest improvement of all time. 2018… October 2018 to, basically, November 2020. From a ‘0.0’ to a ‘7.7.’ Very good pizza. So, now I think, Goodfellas and me, I think we’re friends now.”

After finishing his review, Dave asked another employee about the staff, who had previously kicked him out. When told that he didn’t work at the pizzeria anymore, Portnoy jokingly asked whether the ex-staff member hated him. The employee replied with skepticism, “Maybe?” and the video concluded with Dave and Frankie seemingly laughing.
