The rapper Kid Cudi has recently made headlines due to his involvement in Sean Diddy Combs’s ongoing federal sex trafficking trial, where he testified about a home invasion at his Los Angeles residence in 2011.

Cudi says that Combs came to his house uninvited and, without asking, opened Cudi’s Christmas presents and locked his dog in the bathroom. This supposedly happened during the time he was dating Cassie Ventura, an R&B singer and Combs’ ex-girlfriend.

What first seemed like a random statement soon grew to be a troubling issue in the courtroom. An attorney for Diddy, Brian Steel, sought to restrict or block the story altogether from the trial, especially the talk of an incident that may have caused harm to Kid Cudi's dog.

Steel contended that evidence about the dog being traumatized or urinating on the floor could prejudice the jury, especially if any members were animal lovers.

"'The dog was never the same. The dog urinated on the floor.’ Why do we need that?" Brian Steel asked.

According to US Weekly, The federal district judge, Arun Subramanian, partially agreed with Steel and ruled that Cudi can tell the jury what he discovered when he returned home, but not the long-term behavioral effects.

"I agree, It's a serious issue. I'll stop any answers that are about the long-term consequences to the dog." the judge said according to the Yahoo news.

Kid Cudi testified that the burglary happened while he was at a hotel with Cassie. A call came in from Capricorn Clark, another assistant with a close relationship to Diddy, and she told him that Combs was at his home.

Cudi supposedly returned home to find opened presents, altered security tape and his dog locked in the bathroom. The dog was "very jittery," Cudi said to jurors, indicating that the dog was shocked by the incident.

"I wanted to confront him, I wanted to fight him, Some gifts that I had brought for my family had been opened... And then my dog was in my bathroom." He said.

Kid Cudi has been brought up in the federal sex trafficking trial against Sean Diddy Combs due to his complex and tense relationship with Diddy and Cassie Ventura.

According to Business Insider, while Cudi and Diddy never made a song together, Diddy posted footage in 2020 of Cudi in the studio working on Diddy’s 2010 album Last Train to Paris. But things had escalated in the past when Cassie alleged that Diddy turned violent after finding out about her romance with Cudi.

Both Cassie and her mother testified during the hearing, claiming that Diddy would threaten to hurt Kid Cudi, with Cassie Ventura claiming at one time Diddy even said he wanted to blow up the rapper’s car. That car did explode in Cudi’s driveway around that time in 2012, which was later confirmed by a spokesperson for Kid Cudi.
