Liev Schreiber's weekend took a frightening turn when the Ray Donovan star was rushed to a New York City hospital, reportedly due to an intense headache.

According to TMZ on Monday, Nov. 17, the actor, 58, stayed overnight under observation while the doctors ran a battery of tests. The outlet added that his ability to speak and move remains intact.

Meanwhile, details surrounding his condition are still unclear, and his specific ailment hasn't been revealed as of writing.

Liev Schreiber joins call to boycott Israeli film institutions

Liev Schreiber's hospitalization comes two months after he signed up for the call for a boycott of Israeli film institutions over the war in Gaza, alongside over 1,200 names from the entertainment industry. Among the participants were Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik and A Walk in the Clouds star Debra Messing.

In the letter released in September by the Creative Community for Peace and The Brigade, about 4,000 individuals who signed the boycott pledge were urged to reconsider their stance. This included Emma Stone and Joaquin Phoenix.

Other notable figures and industry professionals who supported the new open letter were Sharon Osbourne, Gene Simmons, Anthony Edwards, Haim Saban, Erin Foster, Lisa Edelstein, Howie Mandel, and many more.

The boycott pledge, released in early September, stated that its signees would decline working with Israeli enterprises "implicated in genocide and apartheid against the Palestinian people." The letter read:

"We know the power of film. We know the power of story. That is why we cannot stay silent when a story is turned into a weapon, when lies are dressed up as justice, and when artists are misled into amplifying antisemitic propaganda."

It went on:

"The pledge circulated under the banner of Film Workers for Palestine is not an act of conscience. It is a document of misinformation that advocates for arbitrary censorship and the erasure of art. To censor the very voices trying to find common ground and express their humanity, is wrong, ineffective and a form of collective punishment."

Liev Schreiber defends daughter from critics

Meanwhile, apart from his boycott pledge, Liev Schreiber also appeared to be an LGBTQ+ ally. Last May, the Caught Stealing actor opened up about being a parent to his trans daughter, Kai.

"Kai was always who Kai is. But I suppose the most profound moment was her asking us to change her pronouns. To be honest with you, it didn’t feel like that big of a deal to me, only because Kai had been so feminine for so long."

Months before that, Liev Schreiber also defended his teen daughter from critics after she made her runway debut, with haters citing her "nepo baby" privileges. The 17-year-old rising star walked for Valentino at the Paris Fashion Week at the time.

Speaking to TMZ, Liev Schreiber expressed how proud he is of Kai.

"I'm going to put it to you like this: What if you were a professional actor, and your child decided they wanted to do something in this world? Do they have a choice of what you did? That's her life. She does what she wants with her life, and I'm super proud of her. I thought she did an amazing job in the show."
