Paul Pierce told Julian Edelman that his idea of going out was watching their games or the Red Sox games. He said he really liked how everyone in Boston supported each other, like athletes from different teams would go to each other’s games.

He also said:

“He grew up watching us cause he’s from Boston. He's from Rhode Island. Yeah, he's from the area. But I like his mentality. I like how his press conferences are. He kind of like non nonsense type of coach, but the players love him.”

Paul Pierce announced his retirement from the game in 2017. At the time, Celtics manager Wyc Grousbeck said the team was honored that Pierce would retire from their team.
