“People think they know me, but they don’t": Sydney Sweeney opens up about criticism and public image 

Sydney Sweeney is responding to the criticism the actress has faced over her public image. In a recent interview with Variety, she said:

"I play a lot of very divisive characters, and I think that a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t. So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning into that,’ I’m like, ‘No, I just feel good and I’m doing it for myself and I feel strong.’"

She continued:

"I hope that I can inspire other women to be confident and just flaunt what they got and feel good because you shouldn’t have to apologize or hide or cover up in any room"

The statement came after she faced criticism for her bold scenes in past projects, including Euphoria, where she appeared naked.

Sydney Sweeney talks about Euphoria

The twenty-eight-year-old actress has been active in the entertainment industry since 2009. Over the years, Sydney Sweeney has appeared in many famous TV series and movies, some of which include Euphoria, The White Lotus, The Handmaid's Tale, and Everything Sucks!

While she was already famous, Sydney gained massive recognition from the TV series Euphoria. Talking about it, she told Deadline:

"I’m very proud of my work in ‘Euphoria.’ I thought it was a great performance. But no one talks about it because I got naked. I do ‘The White Lotus’ and all of a sudden critics are paying attention. People are loving me. They’re going, ‘Oh my God, what’s she doing next?’ I was like, ‘Did you not see that in “Euphoria”? Did you not see that in “The Handmaid’s Tale”?"

During the recent interview, Sydney Sweeney also denied getting the cosmetic work done, saying:

"I’ve never gotten anything done. I’m absolutely terrified of needles. No tattoos. Nothing. I’m going to age gracefully."

Talking about the online criticism, she added:

"It’s really funny. I’ll see things online like ‘comparison pictures.’ I’m like, ‘I’m 12 in that photo. Of course I’m going to look different. I have makeup on now and I’m 15 years older.’"

The actress said it can be tough to ask for her worth, but she reminds herself to stay strong and confident.

Sydney Sweeney's upcoming works

Sydney Sweeney has five upcoming projects lined up, according to IMDb. These include The Housemaid, scheduled for release this year, and Euphoria season 3, scheduled for release next year. Her other three projects, titled Untitled Live: Action Gundam Movie, Split Fiction, and I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl, don't have any confirmed release dates yet.

She is also working as a producer in her four upcoming projects titled The Housemaid, Split Fiction, Outrun, and I Pretended to Be a Missing Girl.
