R-Truth, also known as Ron Killings, has officially departed from WWE after his 17-year tenure. The announcement was made by him on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Sunday, June 1, 2025. The exit comes after the expiration of his contract with the company.
Ron's exit from WWE follows a recent feud between him and wrestler and actor John Cena. The feud between the two was a dramatic and emotional storyline for fans, involving WWE, wherein Cena turned heel amidst championship pursuits.
R-Truth exits WWE and the recent feud with John Cena
Ron Killings took to his X handle on Sunday to announce his departure from WWE. It read:
''Im sorry to inform you all. I just got released from WWE. I want to thank WWE for the ride, but MOSTLY I want to thank each and EVERYONE OF YOU who was along for the ride, Thank you for all the love, support, and appreciation you have given me over the years. Thank you 🙏🏾.''
His departure from the company followed news of the recent beef with John Cena. In May 2025, Ron had intervened in the match between John Cena and Randy Orton. His intervention stopped Orton from pulling a match-ending move on Cena. Although it looked like Cena would appreciate R-Truth's help, it turned out quite the opposite.
At a press conference after the show, Cena attacked Ron. He picked Ron up and slammed him through a table, shocking everyone. This attack of John on Ron escalated their feud, which led to a match between the two at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
In the match between Cena and R-Truth, Cena won the match. Following this match, Ron appeared in one more match on the May 30 episode of SmackDown. In this match, Ron faced J.C. Mateo. During the match, R-Truth managed to land some offense; however, Mateo dominated most of the moves in the match and defeated Ron.
This was his last match, which marked the end of his nearly two-decade-long career with WWE. Throughout his career, Ron had won many accolades, including two-time WWE Tag Team Champion, once with Kofi Kingston and another with The Miz; two-time WWE United States Champion; Mixed Match Challenge with Carmella; and WWE 24/7 Championship.
Ron first joined WWE in 2000 under the ring name K-Kwik and left the company in 2002. He then rejoined in 2008 under the name R-Truth. Following his announcement of departing from the company, fellow wrestlers, fans, and followers poured their wishes on social media platforms.
Other than wrestling, Ron was a favorite among fans for his charisma, comedic timing, and chaotic energy.
