Robert Pattinson is rumored to be a part of the cast for Denis Villeneuve's upcoming sprawling sci-fi epic Dune: Part Three.
The filming for the sequel reportedly began this month, in the Hungarian capital, which offered the ideal locations to shoot the first two chapters of Villeneuve's adaptations. In the following weeks, the cast members, such as Zendaya, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Timothée Chalamet, were spotted in Budapest. Reports stated that they were present to shoot the third installment.
On July 29, Hungarian news portal Index reported that Robert Pattinson was also seen in Budapest along with Jason Momoa, who is set to reprise his role as Paul's mentor, Duncan Idaho, this giving Index a reason to believe that he was there to play his part in the cast. However, there have been no official confirmation about Pattinson's casting as Scytale.
Until now, the Twilight star has only been rumored to play the antagonist in Dune: Part Three, standing up against Chalamet's Muad'Dib. However, if the update holds ground, Pattinson can be an exciting addition to the cast.
Here's everything we know about Dune: Part Three so far
In 2021, Denis Villeneuve brought Frank Herbert's vision to life with Dune, a film that survived the multiple delays caused by the pandemic. Greig Fraser joined him behind the camera and Hans Zimmer for the music score for the project, one which was hailed as one of the most striking cinematic adaptations in recent times.
The first film follows Paul Atreides stepping into a world beyond his reach. He sees visions of Chani in his dreams, calling him from the desert. He meets her after surviving the horrors unleashed upon his family. In the second film, he becomes a part of the Fremen and rises through the ranks to be dubbed their messiah. Stilgar embraces this side of Paul, while Chani sees the dangers of his meteoric rise to power.

Dune: Part Three is expected to follow Paul's journey a few years after he gains this power as the Fremen leader. The following chapter will likely analyze the dark side of it all.
In line with this, Villeneuve once told Entertainment Weekly:
“When Frank Herbert wrote Dune, he was disappointed at how people perceived Paul. In his mind, Dune was a cautionary tale — a warning against charismatic figures. He felt that Paul was perceived as a hero when he wanted to do the opposite. So in order to correct that, he wrote Dune Messiah, a kind of epilogue that makes it very clear this story is not a victory, it’s a tragedy.”
While plot details are under wraps, here's what the film's official logline says, per IMDB:
"[Dune: Part Three] follows Muad'dib, heir to unimaginable power, as he brings to fruition the ancient scheme to create a superbeing ruler among men, not in the heavens."
What else is Robert Pattinson starring in at the moment?
Apart from a rumored role in Dune: Part Three, Robert Pattinson is all set to star in two upcoming blockbuster projects. He is included in the cast of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, alongside Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and more.

Pattinson is expected to put on his bat-suit again soon to play the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves' The Batman Part II. He also headlines Kristoffer Borgli's The Drama with Zendaya. Apart from these projects, he is also set to appear in Die My Love, a Jennifer Lawrence-starrer psychological dark comedy, which is scheduled to be released on November 7, 2025.
