Ron Howard casts Anne Hathaway and Adam Driver as leads for his newest film Alone at Dawn

Filmmaker Ron Howard is set to make his upcoming film, Alone at Dawn, with actors Anne Hathaway and Adam Driver in the cast, as reported by Deadline. The film is in association with Amazon MGM Studios.

The film is derived from a true story that was recorded in the New York Times best-selling book in 2019. The book carries the homonym and is penned by Dan Schilling and Lori Chapman Longfritz. It narrates the heroic story of Master Sergeant John Chapman.

At the crucial time of the Afghan War, the brave combat controller of the U.S. Army had safeguarded a total of 23 army officials, but unfortunately lost his own life. Due to his valiant sacrifice, he was honored with the Medal of Honor after his death.

As reported by Deadline, director Ron Howard is all geared up to make the upcoming film, Alone at Dawn. Anne Hathaway and Adam Driver shall be starring in this film. The script is written by Michael Russell Gunn, who is also the executive producer. Along with him, we have William Connor, Patrick Newall, and Kristy Grisham as executive producers.

The film is included in the freshly renewed first-look film deal by Amazon MGM, in association with Howard and Brian Grazer's film company, Imagine Entertainment. Other production houses associated with the film include Thruline Entertainment and The Hideaway Entertainment.

Actor Adam Driver, who has had a career as an Army veteran, will be portraying the role of John Chapman in Alone at Dawn. The film is based on the book written by Chapman's sister, Lori Chapman Longfritz, as well as Dan Schilling. After the tragic passing of Chapman, Schilling, a Combat Controller and Special Tactics Officer with a service of three decades, wrote this book in collaboration with Longfritz that recorded the gallant journey of John Chapman.

Schilling strongly advocated for Chapman to be honored with the Medal of Honor after Chapman's passing in 2002. Sixteen years later, in 2018, John Chapman was commemorated with the Medal of Honor.

Prior to the book becoming a New York Times bestseller, The Hideaway Entertainment was provided with the text by Thruline. It was then that Michael Russell Gunn was brought on board to pen the script for Hideaway.

Ultimately, the production house approached Imagine Entertainment. This is how Ron Howard comes on board to direct the film. The script of Alone at Dawn was also reworked by Amy Herzog and Erin Cressida Wilson.

Adam Driver will be playing the role of Chapman, and Anne Hathaway will portray the role of the officer in Alone at Dawn. The Academy and Golden Globe-winning director's previous directorial work includes Grand Theft Auto (1977), Far and Away (1992), A Beautiful Mind (2001), The Da Vinci Code (2006), In the Heart of the Sea (2015), Inferno (2016), Eden (2024), and many more.
