As reported by IndieWire, Chris Stuckmann's upcoming horror film Shelby Oaks is releasing on 3rd October 2025 by Neon.

The film debuted last year at the prestigious Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal, Canada. Youtuber and filmmaker Chris Stuckmann has made this project of passion by collecting funds through crowdsourcing, supported by Kickstarter. However, the renowned film production company Neon then got associated with the project, and it turned out to be a complete game-changer for the film.

After the film's screening at the festival, some reshooting of the film was done with the support of Neon. The reshooting has enhanced the level of violence and gore that the initial version of the film had.

Let us know more about the forthcoming horror film, Shelby Oaks.

When is Shelby Oaks releasing?

Shelby Oaks is making its theatrical release in the United States on 3rd October 2025. Upon its debut at the Fantasia Film Festival, the film met with favorable reviews. Its Rotten Tomatoes score adds up to an aggregate of an impressive 79%.

The film is produced by Intrepid Pictures and Paper Street Films, with producers Ashleigh Snead, Cameron Burns, Aaron B. Koontz, and the helmer, Stuckmann himself.

In a video uploaded by Paper Street Films, Chris Stuckmann talked about the developments that took place after Neon stepped in to handle its distribution. He mentions it by saying:

"We've actually been able to go back into the movie and enhance it in very small incremental ways. And that is because Neon is amazing. They are the greatest collaborators. They are so filmmaker friendly. They love this movie."

Stuckmann then shed light on the fact that he could not add a few things from the original script due to budget constraints. Fortunately, the possibilities were expanded later. With the support of Neon, the reshoot increased the amount of gore and violence.

He continued:

"They asked for a draft of my original script and they read it and they were like, 'hey, there's some things in here that aren't in the movie. Why didn't you do those things?'. And I was like 'Time and money'. I mean, I could go on. And they were like, 'Well, what if you had a little more of those two things?'. And these things were almost exclusively related to gore and violence."

In fact, Neon also helped with getting editor Brett W. Bachman on board to help in bringing the project to a seamless finish. Along with Bachman, we have Patrick Lawrence as an editor as well.
