Director Chris Miller brings back the big blue magic of the Smurfs to the silver screen with his new animated film. It's not the first time audiences have witnessed these creatures in one of their adventures. They first appeared in 1965 through a hand-drawn animated film. Later, some directors brought these creatures to live-action hybrid movies in 2011 and 2013. Over a decade later, Paramount Pictures brings them back in an animated project. Here's an official synopsis for the same:
"When Papa Smurf is mysteriously taken by evil wizards, Razamel and Gargamel, Smurfette leads the Smurfs on a mission into the real world to save him. With the help of new friends, the Smurfs must discover what defines their destiny to save the universe."
Since the film's release in theaters on July 18, 2025, viewers might be wondering: Does Smurfs have an end-credit scene? That's totally fair since many movies have featured a similar mid-credit or post-credit scene. So, the fans might be wondering if they should stick around after the credits start rolling to watch an additional scene. To answer their question, yes, Smurfs includes an end-credit scene. However, it doesn't set up a sequel for the franchise.

Does Smurfs' ending set up a potential sequel? Here's what we know
The end-credits scene often serves a purpose for a movie. It can be purely driven by fan service and show a sweet moment that happens with its characters. Such a scene may answer one of the burning questions about its characters. Sometimes, it can tease a new film coming out soon. Otherwise, it can potentially set up a sequel. However, that doesn't seem to be the case with the mid-credit scene in the new animated movie.
Chris Miller's new movie includes an end-credit scene featuring Razamel, caught in the strange micro-universe. However, Garmagel, the other wizard, still hopes to take over the Smurfs. So, the scene doesn't explicitly set up a sequel. While the evil wizards may return to wreak havoc in the lives of these blue creatures, the scene doesn't imply that they would.
We see all the narrative threads neatly tied up by the end, which keeps it self-contained. Still, if you're a fan, never say never.
