“I loved it. So, it just, it felt fun and exciting. I don't know if I was ever like ‘Oh my God, this is gruelling’ because it was just a good time.”
Sydney Sweeney played the role of professional lesbian boxer Christy. She and Christy Martin posed together on the red carpet.
More details on Sydney Sweeney’s role as Christy
Sydney Sweeney plays the role of Christy Martin in the American biographical sports drama Christy. The actress spoke to Vanity Fair in an exclusive interview, describing the character as inspiring and harrowing.

“I was blown away that her story wasn’t more known on a universal, global level because it’s just one of the most harrowing and inspiring women that I’ve ever met in my entire life.”
In addition to discussing her new role, Sydney told Vanity Fair that she would not be addressing the American Eagle jeans ad controversy.
“I am there to support my movie and the people involved in making it, and I’m not there to talk about jeans.”
True to her word, Sydney Sweeney only discussed the film Christy during the Toronto Film Festival.
Other stars featured in the film include Ben Foster, Merritt Wever, Katy O’Brian, and Ethan Embry. Christy was directed by David Michôd, who also contributed to the story of the movie.
“One of the things that drew me to this story was the idea of being able to make a movie that starts, in a way, as a beautiful, wild, underdog sports movie, but then starts to shift into something that’s really harrowing and, ultimately, deeply moving,” David said about the film.
