The Elixir cast and character guide: Who plays whom in Netflix's latest Indonesian horror film?

The freshly released Indonesian horror film on Netflix, The Elixir, boasts a promising cast, including Mikha Tambayong, Donny Damara, and Eva Celia in the lead roles.

Directed by Kimo Stamboel, the film follows the plot of how a desire for perpetuity and youth leads to a family pushed to the brink of survival, as a zombie outbreak turns their lives upside down. It explores domestic conflicts in the face of horror and existence. Upon its release, the film received a rating of 5.6/10 on IMDb. Its Rotten Tomatoes score has not been revealed yet.

According to IMDb, the synopsis is:

A dysfunctional family running a renowned herbal medicine business. The owner of the company attempts to innovate by creating a new potion, which ends up triggering a zombie outbreak.

1) Mikha Tambayong as Kenes

In the film, Mikha Tambayong plays the role of Kenes, who is driven to deal with the chaos her father's actions have unleashed.

Apart from this film, the actor has worked in Kepompong (2008), Aishiteru (2011), Fallin' in Love (2012), Check in Bangkok (2015), etc. Apart from her acting work, she is also a singer and a dancer.

2) Eva Celia as Karina

Eva Celia portrays the role of Kenes' friend Karina, who marries her father. In the film, Karina and Kenes find themselves in a squabble as their relationship gets complex.

Apart from this film, Celia, who is also a singer and a songwriter, is known for her acting work in films including The Golden Cane Warrior (2014), Milly & Mamet: Ini Bukan Cinta & Rangga (2018) and The Shadow Strays (2024), to name a few.

3) Donny Damara as Sadimin

And finally, the man behind all the chaos, Kenes' father Sadimin. While he runs a family business of herbal potions, Sadimin is seduced by the thoughts of gaining immortality and youth. As a result, he devours an herbal medicine that he believes will help him achieve his dream. However, things overturn badly for him and his family as he transforms into a zombie and risks the lives of people around him.

Sadimin is portrayed brilliantly by actor Donny Damara. The seasoned actor is best known for his work in Lovely Man (2011), The Storylines (2020), Harlot's Prayer (2023), Romeo Ingkar Janji (2024), Lintrik Ilmu Pemikat (2025), and many more.
