Ever since Amazon MGM Studios announced the film adaptation of The Love Hypothesis, fans have been excited to watch author Ali Hazelwood’s work on screen. Last month, Lili Reinhart and Tom Bateman were announced as the lead pair of the romantic comedy.
Amazon has now signed four more actors for the project. Nicholas Duvernay, Arty Froushan, Rachel Marsh, and Jaboukie Young-White have all joined the cast of The Love Hypothesis.
The movie tells the story of a PhD candidate who starts faking an affair with her professor. But as they pretend to be in love, the lines between lies and their real feelings begin to blur.
New additions to The Love Hypothesis cast
On August 11, 2025, Deadline reported that Nicholas Duvernay, Arty Froushan, Rachel Marsh, and Jaboukie Young-White have been cast in undisclosed roles in The Love Hypothesis. The film was announced back in 2022, with the two lead actors being announced in July 2025.
Nicholas Duvernay recently made headlines for his impressive performance in The White Lotus Season 3. He is also known for his roles in films like Purple Hearts, Perfect Addiction, and My Dead Dad.
Arty Froushan was recently seen as Buck Cashman in Daredevil: Born Again. He has also appeared in the shows House of the Dragon, Carnival Row, and Strike Back: Vendetta. Froushan is now gearing up for the release of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, a film marking the conclusion of the historical drama franchise.
Rachel Marsh had her breakthrough this year with the FX comedy series Adults, in which she played Carly. Her other credits include NCIS: Hawaii, Unstable, Just Beyond, and Head of the Class. She will soon be seen in Season 4 of Apple TV+’s The Morning Show.
Jaboukie Young-White is a comedian and actor who has been seen in several films and shows. In 2025, he has starred in the sci-fi thriller Companion and the rom-com The Threesome, which is set to hit the theaters soon. His television credits include Only Murders in the Building, Fantasmas, and Black Mirror.
Meanwhile, Lili Reinhart is going to play Olive Smith in The Love Hypothesis, and Tom Bateman will play Dr. Adam Carlsen. Olive is a third-year biology PhD candidate, while Adam is her hot-headed professor. Both start faking a relationship for their personal gains, but soon realize that their feelings might not be as fake as they thought.
The film adaptation is being written by Sarah Rothschild and directed by Claire Scanlon. Ali Hazelwood is attached to the project as an executive producer. The Love Hypothesis novel came out in 2021 and became a New York Times bestseller. Hazelwood talked about her work being adapted in a movie in an interview with Deadline and said:

Amazon MGM Studios has not yet announced a release date for The Love Hypothesis.
