The Old Guard 2 has been one of the most talked about movies this year, and there's a good reason for that. The Old Guard 1 gave us a good mix of action, history, and fantasy. So, naturally, this one’s probably been on everyone's radar.

The movie brings back our favorite team of immortals who have been protecting the world for centuries. And yes, the incredible Charlize Theron is leading the charge once again as Andromache of Scythia, aka Andy.

Andy has been living for over 6,000 years and is still showing up to fight the good fight. She’s fierce, fearless, and honestly, probably the best leader you'd want if you were immortal and trying to save the world. Her name itself has roots in Greek mythology. It's linked to warriors and Amazons.

Now, in The Old Guard 2, apart from all the crazy fight scenes and immortal drama, one character who really stands out is Booker. His real name is Sebastian Le Livre. His story has been complicated, to say the least. But this time, he gets a shot at redemption.

In fact, it’s Booker who plays a huge role in saving Andy. So let’s get into how exactly Booker redeems himself and becomes the unlikely hero in The Old Guard 2.

If you remember The Old Guard 1, you’ll know that Booker had ended up betraying Andy and the others. He was just tired of being immortal. And you can’t really blame him. Living for centuries, constantly dying, healing, and repeating the cycle sounds exhausting. Some immortals can handle it; some can’t. Booker definitely had had enough.

That’s why he made the terrible decision to team up with Merrick. He thought Merrick could help him end his immortality. But things obviously didn’t go as planned. Andy forgave him but also exiled him for 100 years.

In The Old Guard 2, we see Booker again. He is all messy, drunk, and completely lost. That’s when Quynh finds him and asks him about Andy's whereabouts.

Joe had been secretly visiting Booker, trying to keep tabs on him. On one such day, Nicky and Nile follow Joe. But soon come to know that Booker is nowhere to be found. Eventually, they track him down and bring him back to the team.

In one of The Old Guard 2 scenes, Tuah is busy reading when Booker walks in. That's when he comes across the theory that would change his life. According to the theory, if the first immortal (Discord) or the last immortal (Nile) wounds another immortal, that immortal won’t heal. They’d have a short window to transfer their immortality to someone else.

Booker realizes that this could be his way out. But more importantly for him, it’s a way to save Andy because she has a greater purpose. After all, Andy lost her immortality when she and Nile first fought, meaning Nile’s wound stripped Andy of her powers. But Andy isn't aware of this then.

So, Booker makes a choice. He goes to practice with Nile, deliberately gets wounded by her, and that proves the theory. He doesn’t heal. It’s real. Tuah is shocked, but Booker’s made up his mind. He decides to transfer his immortality to Andy. He sacrifices himself towards the end of the movie.

After all the betrayal, the regret, and the loneliness, he finally redeems himself in The Old Guard 2 by saving Andy, the only person who never stopped fighting for them all.
