Halloween 2025 is just around the corner, and this year, Hollywood has served us some iconic characters that deserve a space on your Halloween vision board. From superheroes to iconic horror icons and everything in between, the silver screen is your ultimate costume catalog.
If you're still behind on your Halloween costume plans, here are five easy costumes inspired by this year's movie run. The best part? You can adapt these looks to fit any budget or skill level, whether you’re DIY-ing a last-minute outfit or splurging on full-on cosplay perfection. Here's your ultimate guide to Halloween costumes for this year, featuring some of the biggest films we have seen in 2025.
Superman and Lois Lane
James Gunn gave us one of the year's biggest films and the return of everyone's favorite superhero- Superman. It's a classic Halloween choice, one that's been going on for quite some time, and thanks to the character's legendary status and David Corenswet's revival, it's also a costume that is evergreen.
Joining Kent is Lois Lane, his reporter girlfriend, brought to life by Rachel Brosnahan in DC's reboot. Unlike previous iterations of these characters, Gunn's Lois Lane is stronger, has more screen time, and is more than just Superman's romantic interest.
What you need to create this Halloween costume:
For Superman
- A blue full-body suit, preferably one with muscles, for the main costume
- A red cape
- Red boots
- A pair of red briefs
- A golden belt
- The iconic Superman logo
For Lois Lane (Based on Rachel Brosnahan's character)
- A brunette wig
- A plain white top
- A black vest top
- A brown belt
- Black baggy pants
- A dainty gold pendant
Aunt Gladys from Weapons

2025 gave us some banger horror films. From romantic horror thrillers to more Stephen King adaptations and vampire flicks. But one film and one character that stood out for many was Amy Madigan's Aunt Gladys, from Zach Cregger's Weapons.
In the film, Gladys starts out as a normal character, the aunt of a young kid, Alex, who is dealing with the disappearance of all the town children -- everyone except him. It is later revealed that Gladys happens to be a witch who has taken in Alex's parents, all the children, and more people, leaving them in a catatonic state in her basement. She does so by doing black magic with a twig that she wraps in her desired person's hair and her own blood.
The character stood out to many, so much so that a sequel to the film about Gladys' backstory is on its way.
What you need to create this Halloween costume:
- A cinnamon red bob wig with short bangs
- Large color-tinted glasses
- Lipstick, preferably smudged
- A bright red/pink/purple matching pantsuit
- Chunky jewelry
- The iconic twig
Elphaba and Glinda from Wicked
2024 already saw the rise of a number of Wicked-themed costumes for Elphaba and Glinda, and with the sequel Wicked: For Good coming out this year, you could totally dress up as both witches for this Halloween.
Elphaba Thropp, the Wicked Witch of the West, has magical abilities and green skin, something that has made her an outcast all her life. At Shiz University, she meets Glinda Upland, who is a popular, ambitious, and kind witch, and the two become best friends.
It's a classic costume for best friends or couples, and one that has continued to exist for years.
What you need to create this Halloween costume:
For Elphaba
- Green makeup on the full face, neck, and hands
- Black wig
- Pointy tall witch hat
- Black dress or robe, long-sleeved, floor-length, with slightly dramatic flair.
- Black boots:
For Glinda
- Pink, sparkly gown, floor-length, poofy, dramatic, preferably tulle or something shimmery.
- Blonde wig

- A glittery wand
- Shimmery makeup
- Heels or elegant flats
Yelena Belova from Thunderbolts
Marvel's latest female protagonist is Yelena Belova, who was first introduced in Black Widow and has now become a central figure in the MCU. She's an assassin and the adopted younger sister of Natasha Romanoff. She has a Russian accent and is opposite in nature to Natasha, as in she's more of a tomboy in contrast to Romanoff's femme fatale.
Yelena led the Thunderbolts this year, as the film revolved around a group of anti-heroes who formed a team together to fight against Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Towards the end of the film, the team is rebranded as the New Avengers. Yelena will next be seen in Avengers: Doomsday.
Her costume is quite simple and stands out from other female characters in the MCU. If you're opting to go full Marvel this Halloween, Yelena Belova is a good choice.
What you need to create this Halloween costume:
- Platinum blonde pixie bob wig
- Tactical black bodysuit or leather jacket and pants
- Black combat boots
- Fingerless gloves,
- Fake weapons, like a toy gun or batons, maybe a harness or utility belt to sell the spy vibe.
- Neutral-toned makeup, with a smoky eye and some bruises on face
- A small earpiece or headset for that high-tech assassin feel.
The Fantastic Four (and Galactus and Silver Surfer)
Marvel’s first family returned to the big screen this year, bringing a mix of superhero antics, sibling rivalry, and cosmic adventures. Each member has a distinct power, making them perfect for group costumes or even solo interpretations. Mr. Fantastic stretches his body to incredible lengths, Invisible Woman can disappear and create force fields, Human Torch ignites in flames, and Thing is a rock-solid powerhouse. Add Silver Surfer, a sleek cosmic speedster on his iconic board, or Galactus, the towering devourer of worlds, and you’ve got a mix of earthbound heroics and epic cosmic flair.
These costumes are perfect for Halloween because they let you embrace superhero energy, go bold with colors and textures, and, for groups, offer endless opportunities for creative poses and themed photos. Whether you want something recognizable or completely over-the-top, the Fantastic Four and their cosmic counterparts are guaranteed to make a statement.
