What could be the plot of The Woman in Cabin 10?
The Woman in Cabin 10 explores the historical practice of gaslighting and the skepticism that women have been experiencing to date. Such happens in this case as well, when Laura "Lo" Blacklock, a journalist, hops on board on a work trip in a high-end sailboat.
However, Lo witnesses something bizarre and unsettling. As soon as she addresses it to the people around, there is a whole trial of disbelief, dismissal, and questioning that Lo goes through. Hence, Lo, in the pursuit of truth, finds her life being threatened.
Its synopsis, as per Netflix, goes as follows:
While on a luxury yacht for a travel assignment, a journalist witnesses a passenger tossed overboard late one night, only to be told that she must have dreamed it, as all passengers are accounted for. Despite not being believed by anyone onboard, she continues to look for answers, putting her own life in danger.
While speaking to Tudum, the author of the original book, Ruth Ware, talks about the core of its plot by stating:
“Cabin 10, at its heart, is about a woman who experiences something wrong, reports it truthfully, and isn’t taken seriously because of who she is. Too many people know what that feels like and I think we want vindication for ourselves as much as Lo.”
