Just a few hours back, Netflix dropped the official teaser for Troll 2, and the comments section is already flooded. Ine Marie Wilmann reprises her role as protagonist Nora Tidemann alongside returning Norwegian stars Kim Falck and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and this time, the stakes are even higher with a new monster on the loose.
As already confirmed by Netflix, Troll 2 will continue the streak of one of the biggest international productions so far in the Nordic region, and it is all set for a December premiere. Moreover, helmer Roar Uthaug has mentioned, per Netflix, that he takes pride in how Troll has received so much support over the years from fans globally. Here's a look at the official synopsis of Troll 2, per IMDb:
"Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris leap back into action when a dangerous new troll awakes - and this time they'll need more help to take it down."
Do we have a release date for Troll 2 yet?
Troll 2 will exclusively premiere on Netflix on December 1, 2025, and the project has been developed by Motion Blur. As confirmed by Netflix, with a runtime of around 100 minutes, the epic monster sequel promises to bring to life "a troll-sized spectacle" that we haven't witnessed before (director Uthaug added in his statement).
What more do we know about Troll 2?
Troll 2 continues to build on Nordic folklore revolving around beastly mythical creatures. This time, a fresh new monster has been unleashed across the wilderness of Norway. As the plot begins to unfold, Norway is looming under the threat of a second troll, which seems more dangerous.
Nora, with the help of Captain Kristoffer Holm from the Norwegian army (portrayed by Mads Sjøgård Pettersen) and Andreas Isaksen (played by Kim Falck), ventures out to find answers lying hidden inside 'the country’s ancient history' while looking for ways to stop the deadly creatures. Troll 2 will reportedly widen the scope of the story and explore more details (about the monsters' origin) as Nora, the scientist, and her associates gear up for the most dangerous adventure of their careers.
As seen in the latest teaser of Troll 2, Nora stands amidst a snowy Nordic valley with a gun in her hand while facing a troll approaching her slowly. However, to much surprise of the fans, right behind her is another monster (much bigger and more fearsome) that rises from under a heap of snow. It also further justifies the line that we see in the newest clip:
"Some legends should not be awakened."
Sara Khorami is the new face joining the cast of Troll 2 in the role of Marion Rhadani, but further details of the character are still being kept under wraps. Among others in the cast, we have:
- Jon Ketil Johnsen as Professor Møller (returning star)
- Gard B. Eidsvold as Tobias Tidemann, Nora's father (returning star)
- Trond Magnum as Lars Gundersen (reprising his role)
- Aksel Almaas
