Troll 2 teaser shows return of fan-favourite characters as a new monster awakens in the Netflix sequel

The teaser for the Netflix sequel Troll 2 features the original characters from its predecessor, Troll (2022). Actors including Ine Marie Wilmann, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, and Kim Falck are back as Nora, Captain Kristoffer "Kris" Holm, and Andreas Isaksen, respectively.

The helmer of the original film, Roar Uthaug, is back with the sequel, and it is slated for release this year. The sequel explores a new journey of Nora, Andreas, and Kris as they join together to combat an invigorated troll monster. But this time, it is a bigger challenge.

Its official synopsis goes as follows:

“When a dangerous new troll is awakened, unleashing devastation across Norway, beloved adventurers Nora, Andreas and Captain Kris are thrust into their most perilous mission yet. To stop the creature’s ruthless rampage, they must enlist new allies and delve into the country’s ancient history, searching for answers. As the clock ticks and the troll’s path of destruction grows wider, our heroes face impossible odds in their fight to save their homeland from falling into darkness.”

The OG characters are back in the sequel film Troll 2

The freshly released teaser for Troll 2 reveals the return of the trio from the original: Nora, Andreas, and Kris, played by Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, respectively. Along with them, a new cast member, Sara Khorami, also joins them in the annihilation of the troll monsters. She essays the role of Mariom.

It is not only the actors who are returning for the sequel. Espen Aukan, who wrote the original film, also penned the screenplay for its upcoming sequel. Producers of Troll, Kristian Strand Sinkerud and Espen Horn, are also returning.

As reported by Netflix, this is what Ine Marie Wilmann shares in her excitement about Troll 2:

“Diving into the Troll adventure was incredibly fun the first time around, and we were absolutely amazed by its global success. It is with great respect and excitement that I embarked on creating the sequel. I hope and believe that people will enjoy more of what they appreciated last time. We certainly had a fantastic time making Troll 2, and we are really looking forward to sharing it with the world.”

The predecessor film, Troll, set a benchmark for itself upon its release in 2022. The Norwegian film garnered a whopping 103 million views on Netflix, marking it as the top fan favorite in the category of films outside the English language.

The films of the Troll franchise are rooted in Nordic folklore, and these stories have reached a global audience. As per Netflix, director Roar Uthaug mentions it by stating:

“I am beyond proud of how audiences around the globe connected with the first Troll film far beyond what we imagined. With the sequel, we are aiming high - expanding the scope, deepening the story, and creating a troll-sized spectacle like you’ve never seen before. I cannot wait for fans to experience the adventure we have in store.”
