American pro boxer Adrien Broner has gone viral after a video of him trying to skip out on an alleged $2,200 restaurant bill surfaced online. In the footage shared by several pages, including The Neighborhood Talk on Instagram on September 21, the athlete could be seen in a heated confrontation with the staff of the eatery as well as cops.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, the 35-year-old boxer rambled in a visibly drunken state,

“Y’all can get a party from me, koo? Why am I bleeding? Y’all taking me or what? I ain’t did nothing. You’ll get your money tomorrow."

Adrien Broner, who has an estimated net worth of $100,000, according to Celebrity Net Worth, appeared to be upset over the staff and the authorities asking him to pay the tab. Later, he took out crumbled cash from his pocket, placed it on the restaurant counter, and told the manager:

“Alright, here y’all go. This is all I can give. If y’all don’t want it, take it back. What that is? Give it to them. That’s all I can… I ain’t f**ked up, my life f**ked up. That’s what I’m saying, I don’t do this, bruh… Alright, just take me to jail. He really called the Narcs, bruh."

Adrien’s recent scuffle at the public food and drink joint comes less than a week after he refused to stop flirting with co-host Mase on Cam’Ron’s podcast, It Is What It Is, according to Hot New Hip Hop.

Exploring Adrien Broner’s financial struggles over the years

Adrien Broner earned his fortune from competing in several boxing world championships and is regarded as one of the best welterweights and pound-for-pound boxers in the world. However, he has faced financial challenges in recent times.

In November 2020, Broner claimed to have only $13 to his name during a court appearance for an assault lawsuit tracing back to a 2018 incident where he allegedly forcibly kissed a woman at a nightclub. At the time, the judge held him in contempt for repeatedly failing to submit evidence and legal papers, including why he was unable to pay $855,000 in compensation to the plaintiff.

After he failed to pay the compensation, Cuyahoga County Judge Nancy Margaret Russo sent him to jail.

The Ohio judge stated at the time, according to ESPN,

"This is a problem, Mr. Broner, because you have ignored basically every order I have given you. Now there is a punishment."

Back then, Judge Russo also asked Adrien Broner if he didn’t have the funds to pay off the plaintiff, how could he explain a video from a week before where he was surrounded by cash stacks. Broner responded by claiming the money belonged to his “rich friends,” including then Showtime President Stephen Espinoza and Premium Boxing Champions executive Al Haymon, and he had $13 in his bank.

Reportedly, he pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault and unlawful restraint in the same case. Adrien Broner was also placed on two years of probation, which he soon violated and was taken into custody for DUI, which sent him back behind bars.

In January 2021, he submitted a Wells Fargo bank statement to the court declaring his bankruptcy. The following month, Adrien “The Problem” Broner faced off against Jovanie Santiago. At the time, he told ESPN that he wasn’t returning to the boxing ring after multiple defeats over the years to get his finances back on track, but to display his talent.

Broner stated,

"Even if I didn't have these pending cases against me, I'd still be training my ass off and be ready to get back and make a fortune. God gave me a blessing and God gifted me with some great talent, and I'm not going to let it go to waste."

He continued,

"I'm someone who never looked for the easy way out. When Stephen Espinoza and Al Haymon come to me, I just never say no. Things can happen like that sometimes. It is what it is. But I'll take the bitter with the sweet."

Adrien Broner also shared that, besides Haymon and Espinoza, WBA lightweight titleholder Gervonta Davis was among those who sometimes helped him out with his finances.

Last month, promoter Don King confirmed that Broner was making a comeback to the ring. However, FT TV Boxing reported that the pro boxer was still “broke” and had to pay off $1 million worth of jewelry debts in installments. The outlet also mentioned how Adrien once posted a Cash App fundraiser for himself.

It is noteworthy that Adrien Broner has been a professional boxer since 2008. During his peak, he defeated the likes of Allante Davis, David Warren Huffman, Ramon Flores, William Kickett, Tommy Atencio, and Angel Rodriguez. He also earned six figures after every victory, including the 2011-12 WBO Super Featherweight World title.

Until 2018, he had millions in his bank account. In April of that same year, he earned $1 million to fight against Jessie Vargas, and the following January, he was paid $2.5 million and bonuses for his fight against Manny Pacquiao. He also showed off his $6 million Atlanta mansion on social media with his fans in 2016, as per TMZ.
