Everything we know about Stuart Craig's achievements and work as a production designer
Stuart Craig has reportedly passed away, leaving behind a legacy of unforgettable film sets and designs. In a 2017 interview with M&E, Craig had revealed that after wrapping up his work for the Harry Potter movies, he was at the time designing the set for "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando." Even with the advent of advanced technology for designing, Craig revealed that he continued to draw with his "wooden pencil", a companion that helped him win multiple accolades.
Although Craig won multiple Academy Awards, he found the experience "intimidating." He noted,
"You enjoy it hugely when it’s past. Sitting there waiting for that decision, it concentrates the mind."
Apart from the wins, Stuart Craig described his experience of designing the movie sets as wholesome and described it as a "tremendous run." According to The Wrap, JK Rowling's Harry Potter series and its subsequent spinoffs, Fantastic Beasts, earned two Oscars and six BAFTA nominations. Owing to his notable contributions to the film industry, Stuart was reportedly awarded the Lifetime Achievement award at the "British Film Designers Guild Awards" in February 2019, per Deadline.
Hollywood Reporter noted that Stuart Craig is survived by his wife, Patricia Stangroom and their two children. Stuart's fans and followers paid tribute to him and expressed gratitude for creating the magical world of Harry Potter, which continues to be part of the childhood experiences for many.
