The actress was born as Margaret Elizabeth McLarty, and decided to change her name to Eileen Fulton in 1960, right before she was cast on As The World Turns. On July 14, 2025, news broke out that the actress passed away at 91 years old.
Eileen Fulton is famous for her role as Lisa Grimaldi on As The World Turns, a role she has been playing for more than 50 years. The news of Fulton's death was announced by her family, revealing that she passed in Asheville, North Carolina, due to her declining health.
Eileen had an on-and-off relationship with the CBS drama, As The World Turns. In 1965, she exited the show to do her prime time spinoff, called Our Private World. However, she returned to the show and completed the finale episode, which was broadcast on September 17, 2010.

Eileen Fulton played the role of Lisa Grimaldi for more than 50 years. As mentioned, Fulton was on and off the show. She was active from 1960 to 1964, after which she left to star in her prime time spinoff. She came back in 1966 until 1983. She left again, but resumed her role as Lisa in 1984 till the last episode, which was concluded in 2010.
In the show, Lisa Grimaldi had a total of eight husbands throughout 54 seasons of As The World Turns. By the end of the show, Lisa Grimaldi's name has expanded to Lisa Miller Hughes Eldridge Shea Colman McColl Mitchell Grimaldi Chedwyn. In addition to the eight husbands, Lisa also had multiple lovers.
During an interview with the Television Academy Foundation website, The Interviews in 2005, Fulton had this to say about her character. She said:
"She’s a romantic, that’s why she falls in love so much."
Eileen Fulton even had to hire a bodyguard to protect her from mad viewers who did not approve of Lisa's antics on the show. Fulton said:
"They had a great love/hate thing [with me], it was amazing."
An interesting thing about Eileen at the time was her refusal to play the role of a grandmother. She even had a clause drafted for her. During an interview with The Los Angeles Times in 2000, she said:
"At that time, grandmothers had no romance at all — and I wasn't about to let that happen to me," however, Fulton gradually accepted it.
Eileen Fulton was a great woman and actress in her own right. She was inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame in 1998. She was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004 from the Daytime Emmys. She was also one of the first soap opera actors who have her own publicist.
