NBA star P.J. Washington recently had an altercation with his ex, Brittany Renner, while picking up their son, Paul Jermaine Washington III, from the Renner residence. During this incident, P.J. also exchanged curse words with Brittany’s mother, who was apparently filming a video of the fight.
She accused her grandson's father of not paying enough child support and instead spending all his money on his wife, Alisha Chanel. Brittany Renner has previously spoken about having biracial parents, with a white mother and a black father. Their names remain undisclosed.
According to Famous Birthdays, Brittany is a fitness model and influencer with two siblings: a brother named Steven and a sister, Lexie. She was born and raised in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, and currently lives in Los Angeles, California.
More about Brittany Renner’s mother amid her altercation with P.J. Washington
In November 2021, Brittany Renner appeared for an interview on VladTV, where she discussed her upbringing. She opened up about being a mixed-race kid who grew up in a white neighborhood in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. She was raised by her maternal grandparents, whom she described as “racist” and “strict.”
According to Renner, when she was 9, she and her siblings started living with her grandparents because her mother wasn’t stable enough to care for them. She also revealed that she was a rebellious teenager in the absence of her parents.
“So, I felt like for me, not having that freedom to be who I am caused me to rebel. [I was] sneaking out, drinking vodka with friends, TPing houses, dumb sh*t,” she told DJ Vlad.
Brittany mentioned that therapy helped her deal with absentee parents. She admitted to struggling with it for a long time and is still working through her issues.
“It’s not something you completely heal from, as with all trauma,” she explained.
Brittany previously wrote and published a memoir in 2018 titled "Judge This Cover." In it, she claimed her mother was busy having relations with Black men instead of taking care of her children.
“My mom read my book and she was like, ‘I didn’t know you felt that way and you’re entitled to feel how you feel’. And I think there were a lot of things that I said that were hurtful to her. But the reality of that is that I could only express myself based on the perspective I had back then,” she noted on VladTV.
In a September 2022 Instagram Live, Brittany Renner talked about her life after separating from P.J. Washington and moving in with her mother and sister.
"Can you imagine being 29 years old with a baby living back with your parent because you were kicked out of your house (I left willingly because I go where I’m celebrated, not tolerated) with nowhere to go without a vehicle?" she stated.
Renner continued, “Can you imagine NOT being mentally/physically/emotionally ready to get back in the gym, let alone host a club, after just having a baby, but you have to work to take care of your child? What about being harassed about receiving 200K in child support?”
She denied the rumors that she was receiving thousands of dollars in child support from P.J. Washington. Instead, Brittany criticized him for not being an equal parent. The single mother also pushed back at online bullies who called her a “gold digger” and “paedophile.”
“Better yet! A spiteful BM keeping their son from his Dad when he wasn’t even in the same state at the time? All of this has been my reality on top of trying to get things afloat financially, getting back in the groove of social media after falling off the face of the earth, and being a new mother,” she said at the time.
Renner concluded by saying she left P.J. with a 2-and-a-half-month-old kid, no car, no money, and called it the “hardest time of my life.”

During the recent confrontation with Washington, Brittany Renner said it was the third time their son Paul Jermaine had cried when his father came to pick him up. She also asked him to actually “show up and do something” regularly, instead of just occasional pick-ups, adding that their son didn’t want to go with his father.
P.J.’s wife, Alisha Chanel, was also involved in the heated exchange. She and Washington got married in October 2023 and have two sons. The Dallas Mavericks star also has another son from a previous relationship.
