When Allison Williams and Alexander Dreymon first met, it was on the set of the 2020 survival thriller Horizon Line. In that film, they played a couple who had to survive a plane crisis together. Over time, their relationship transitioned from on-screen partners to life partners.

Williams shared what it was about working together that helped their connection grow in a recent interview with People. They started dating after filming Horizon Line and quietly built a life away from the spotlight. Their relationship remains mostly private but meaningful to them.

Allison Williams on what built her connection with Alexander Dreymon

Being together on a film set means more than just acting scenes. For Allison Williams and Dreymon, the long days, the tough schedules, and the behind-the-camera pressures made a difference. Williams said,

"So by the time Alexander and I decided to explore the romantic side of our relationships, I had seen him grumpy, hungry, exhausted. Like I knew what he behaved like at 4:00 a.m. at the end of a 18 hour shooting day. And that's all very useful information."

She says that kind of real side gives useful information about someone you might consider trusting long-term. They weren't just showing each other the best moments. They were also showing each other how they handled less glamorous parts of work.

On Horizon Line they acted out a high-stress survival scenario: flying a small plane after the pilot has a heart attack and trying to stay alive together. That intense acting situation may have helped them see each other's focus resilience and how they respond under pressure. It is one thing to act alongside someone and another to watch them when things are off schedule or tiring. Williams said,

"It’s that once you've worked with someone, you have seen all different sides of them."

Moreover the fact that they met while working meant they started as colleagues. Williams said that working together brings out "different sides" of the other person. That foundation of shared adversity and work may have made the move to romance feel more natural.

Allison Williams' relationship with Alexander Dreymon beyond the set

After Horizon Line Allison Williams and Alexander Dreymon moved into a deeper relationship phase. They began dating in late 2019 and kept their relationship mostly private. In April 2022 the world learned they had welcomed their son Arlo in late 2021. Then in June 2025 Williams referred to Dreymon as her husband in an interview and it was confirmed that they had quietly married.

The transition from co-stars to partners shows the value of time and shared experience. In an interview with ELLE, Williams has noted that they have a "two-week limit" rule when they must be apart for work. So, they keep their connection through real life, not just work life. That kind of personal rule suggests they value balance and reliable partnership.

Finally, the couple's private decision-making around their relationship, not announcing every step publicly, underscores how their bond may be built as much off-camera as on. Allison Williams said they weren’t hiding their marriage. They just didn’t make a big press release about it.
