Veteran short-track racer Robbie Brewer passed away following a tragic incident during a race at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. On Saturday night, August 9, 2025, Brewer suffered a heart attack in his car, just four laps before the race’s end.
His car failed to make a turn in turn 4, crashing violently into the wall. He was then rushed to a nearby hospital and was announced dead on Sunday, August 10, 2025, according to CBS Sports.
Brewer’s daughter, Courtney Marquette, shared about her father’s passing in a Facebook post. She wrote:
''I didn’t just lose my dad, many people just lost a best friend, mentor, their shit talking buddy, or someone they could just have a great time with, he had a smile that was contagious & I have never been more glad to look just likes my dad than I am right now.''

Robbie Brewer had been involved in the Bowman Gray Racing community for nearly four decades and had earned 11 victories in the Sportsman division and was its 2011 champion.
Bowman Gray Stadium released a statement confirming the passing of the racer. In the statement, they said, as per Road and Track:
''We are saddened by the passing of Robbie Brewer after he was transported to an area medical facility following an on-track medical incident during last night’s event at Bowman Gray Stadium.''
They added:
''Robbie was a talented and passionate racer and a highly respected competitor among his peers. Our thoughts and prayers are with Robbie’s family and friends at this time.''
His daughter paid an emotional and heartfelt tribute on social media. In her tribute post, she highlighted how generous, kind, and passionate about racing her father was. She also said that the two shared a fun-loving bond. She wrote:
''There wasn’t much my dad couldn’t fix/do when it came to his cars & racing was his absolute life which was no secret to anyone. He left this world doing what he loved but it was just way way too soon & seeing the video circulating is absolutely heartbreaking.''
She concluded the tribute by asking for compassion and support for her family during this difficult time.
As per reports, Brewer competed in 602 Modified races at tracks across the region, and between 2018 and 2019, he won 12 out of 21 races. Those wins helped him become the 602 Modified Tour champion in both 2018 and 2019, and he also raced in late model cars and won the 2016 602 Super Limited Series championship.
