Robert De Niro surprised many viewers with his statement on MSNBC's "The Weekend Panel." The 82-year-old actor has spoken up numerous times against President Donald Trump's administration, and has done so once again. While on the show, De Niro talked about the "No Kings" movement, which he is a part of. He also praised a few democratic political leaders for the ways they have fought back against Trump's rule.

He said:

"There's something... I like Hakeem Jeffries. I like…Chuck Schumer, Adam Schiff, they're all great, strong. I like what Letitia James is doing. She's fighting back. She's saying, 'f**k you!'"

Robert De Niro further added:

"I'm sorry. This is where we are. It's what she's saying. 'This is it. I will not be taken down by this person. I am not afraid of him.' And God bless her for that. And that's how other people have to be."

Robert De Niro's 2018 Tony Awards speech

Seven years ago, Robert De Niro was at New York's Radio City Music Hall for the Tony Awards. He got on stage to introduce Bruce Springsteen's performance.

He began by saying:

"I'm gonna say one thing. F**k Trump... It's no longer down with Trump. It's f**k Trump."

De Niro then moves forward with his introduction, calling Springsteen:

"Bruce, you can rock the house like nobody else... And even more important in these perilous times, you rock the vote, always fighting for, in your own words, Truth, transparency, and integrity in government. Boy, do we need that now."

What did Robert De Niro say while promoting the "No Kings" protest on Instagram?

Robert De Niro began his speech by saying that the "No Kings" protest is not a new movement. It began 250 years ago, when the Americans were ruled by a monarch. He also highlighted the fact that Americans fought for their freedom, and fought to keep it as well.

However, he mentioned that this time there would be no violence. They would be fighting back peacefully, using their voices.

In his words:

"The original 'No Kings' protest was 250 years ago... Americans decided they didn't want to live under the rule of King George III. They declared their independence and fought a bloody war for democracy. We've had two and a half centuries of democracy since then. Often challenging, sometimes messy, always essential, and we fought in two World Wars to preserve it... Now we have a would-be king who wants to take it away? King Donald the First. F**k that. We are rising up again this time, nonviolently raising our voices to declare 'No Kings.'"

At the Tony Awards, Robert De Niro's 'F**k Trump' statement was emotional and blunt. On MSNBC, his 'No Kings' message was calmer and focused on protecting democracy. Both showed his dislike for Trump, but the newer one was more thoughtful and purposeful.
