More details on Terry Rozier’s alleged betting scheme

Terry Rozier was arrested in connection with an illegal gambling operation that FBI authorities have described as

“mind-boggling” and “one of the most brazen sports corruption schemes since online sports betting became widely legalized in the United States.”

Terry’s Miami Heat teammates and coach have reacted to his arrest.

“Obviously, we can't comment on the situation, but Terry is somebody who is very dear to all of us. He's had a real positive impact on our locker room and the staff and players alike,” the coach said.

A teammate added:

“We support him through and through. At the end of the day, it felt kind of weird for him not being here because he is the first person I get to talk to in the locker room. He brings that great energy to our team, so for us it is uplifting.”

The NBA said in a statement:

“We take these allegations with the utmost seriousness, and the integrity of our game remains our top priority.”

The National Basketball Players Association added:

“The integrity of the game is paramount to NBA players, but so is the presumption of innocence, and both are hindered when player popularity is misused to gain attention. We will ensure our members are protected and afforded their due process rights through this process.”

Terry’s lawyer, Jim Trusty of Ifrah Law, denied the allegations, claiming that his client isn't a gambler and “looks forward to winning this fight.”
