Ananda Lewis, the former MTV VJ and wife of Will Smith’s younger brother, Harry Smith, has passed away at the age of 52. She was reportedly struggling against breast cancer.

According to CNN, the news of her demise was confirmed by her sister, Lakshmi, through a Facebook post. She wrote,

“She’s free, and in His heavenly arms. Lord, rest her soul.”

In October 2024, Ananda Lewis announced that her cancer had progressed to stage IV when she discussed her health with CNN correspondents Stephanie Elam and Sara Sidner.

She was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer in 2019 but later revealed that she opted against the double mastectomy doctors recommended at that time. In October 2023, when she went for a PET scan, she came to know that her cancer had progressed.

Ananda Lewis is survived by her son, Langston, who was born in 2011, and her husband, Harry Smith. According to People magazine, Harry and Elen Smith are younger siblings of Will Smith, who are also twins. Ananda Lewis’ husband, Harry, is currently the chairman and CEO of Smith Global Media, a production company. He worked as an accountant in 1996 and also managed Will’s finances.
