Sha’Carri Richardson, an American track and field sprinter, was arrested on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport for alleged domestic violence after an altercation with her boyfriend, fellow sprinter Christian Coleman, as per The New York Post.

According to SportsMax, Sha’Carri was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree domestic violence assault and was booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) jail in Des Moines, WA, and released by court order on Monday.

As per reports, Christian Coleman is also a sprinter who has won the 100-meter world championship three times and is considered one of the best sprinters in the U.S. Currently, Nike sponsors him. He and Sha’Carri made their relationship public earlier in 2025, and the two were spotted at events and award functions.


Who is Christian Coleman?

Coleman is from Atlanta, Georgia, and is regularly ranked as one of the fastest men in the world. He is a professional track and field sprinter competing in 60 m, 100 m, and 200 m events. His major achievements include Multiple Diamond League titles (2018, 2023) and frequent top-ranked 100 m sprinter from 2017 to 2019, and the World 100 m champion in 2019.

Recently, Richardson competed in the 2025 U.S. Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene.


What happened between Christian Coleman and Sha’Carri Richardson

A domestic violence incident reportedly took place between the two at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Sunday. At the airport, Richardson and fellow sprinter and partner Christian Coleman went through TSA security screening.

According to police reports, surveillance footage shows Sha’Carri repeatedly shoving Coleman, at one point with enough force to send him crashing into a column. She also allegedly threw a pair of headphones in his direction.

Coleman, however, declined to press charges and formally refused to be identified as a victim, according to police records. He also denied that any physical assault occurred in his statement to law enforcement, as per reports.

Sha’Carri was released on Monday, after about 19 hours in custody. The domestic violence case was dismissed as her boyfriend refused to cooperate and declined to participate further.
