Seasoned Hollywood actor and stunt performer Ed Gale has passed away at the age of 61. Gale, who played Chucky, the murderous doll possessed by a serial killer in Child’s Play, Child’s Play 2 and Bride of Chucky, was also popular for his role in the Comedy Classic, Howard The Duck.
Ed Gale’s passing on May 27, 2025, in Los Angeles, was announced by his niece Kayse Gale on Facebook. She didn’t mention the cause of his death, but she put together a moving tribute for her uncle:
“It is with a heavy heart and a surprisingly light coffin (see what I did there?) that we announce the sudden passing of our uncle, Ed Gale. Ed Gale has taken his final bow and is now headlining in the afterlife. Ed hitched a ride to California when he was twenty years old, with $41 and a dream, and he never looked back.”
Ed Gale's acting career explored as actor dies
After Gale’s breakout role in the 1986 Film Howard the Duck, he played Chucky in the popular horror movie franchise. He went on to portray Dinosaur Tasha in the TV series Land of the Lost, which aired for a short period.
In 2003, Gale played a supporting role in the controversial 2003 movie Tiptoes, which follows the story of a family of people with dwarfism. In 2006, Ed Gale made an appearance on an episode of the sitcom My Name Is Earl.
Gale faced allegations from a group of online predator vigilantes named “Creep Catchers Unit.” The group accused the actor in 2023 of attempting to initiate s**ual relations with multiple minors. The Los Angeles Police raided his home in April 2023. He was never charged or arrested for these accusations.
Kayse Gale, in her Facebook post about her uncle, described the legendary thespian’s extensive body of work and touched on how proud of it he was:
"He lit up the silver screens in cult classic films like Howard the Duck and Chopper Chicks in Zombie Town, earning himself some serious street cred at every con he attended. Which he never stopped bragging about. Ever."
She further commented on how Gale loved to regal his nieces with tales from Hollywood and his acting career:
“Over the course of his career, he appeared in over 130 movies, TV shows, and commercials. With this wide-ranging body of work, he leaves behind a legacy full of questionable lighting and amazing one-liners."
