DJ, rapper, record producer, entertainer, and internet personality Funk Flex announced that his syndicated radio show on Hot 97, which has been running from 7 pm to midnight since 1992, is coming to an end.

Its final show is scheduled for September 1.

"THIS MONDAY, LABOR DAY, SEPTEMBER 1ST, WITH BE MY LAST SHOW ON HOT97 AT 7 PM! ALL THINGS COME TO AN END! END OF AN ERA THAT I ENJOYED VERY MUCH!" Funk Flex wrote in a post on X on August 28.

He also promised to make his last show a “great one” and gave a shoutout to his fans, who have supported him over the years.

His announcement sparked a rumor about his potential exit from Hot 97. However, an insider source told TMZ that the New York-based DJ is not leaving the radio network. Instead, he’ll be moving to a different time slot, 5 pm to 10 pm.

Funk Flex, whose real name is Aston George Taylor Jr., didn’t reveal anything about his departure and has yet to confirm the time slot change. As for his personal life, Flex was married to Monica Joseph-Taylor, who is a talk show host and TV producer.

Reportedly, Nessa Nitty will now host the 1 pm to 5 pm slot, while the morning show by Ebro will shift to 6 am to 11 am. Hot 97 reportedly released afternoon hosts, DJ Enuff and DJ Camilo, as “free agents.”
