Who was Gabriela Michel’s husband? All about Jorge Alberto Aguilera

Voice artist Gabriela Michel died in her hometown in Mexico City on November 24, at the age of 65. Her eldest daughter and model-actress Aislinn Derbez confirmed the news via Instagram Stories. Her Spanish statement, when translated into English, read as follows:

“I sincerely appreciate all the expressions of love and support I have received. It is with profound sadness that I share the news that my mother passed away from a heart attack.”

By signing her name, Aislinn concluded, “At this time, I need to grieve in peace, surrounded by my family, and process this loss from a place of love. I appreciate your respect. Thank you for your compassionate support during this difficult time.”

Gabriela Michel’s husband was the radio announcer, voice actor, and dubbing artist Jorge Alberto Aguilera.

Together with Aguilera, Michel went on to have two more daughters, Michelle and Chiara. She shared Aislinn with her first husband, Eugenio Derbez.

Gabriela Michel and Jorge Alberto Aguilera first met in the hallways of Televisa when she performed the hosting duties for the channel’s variety show, XE-TU. Later, they reconnected during the shooting of En Familia con Chabelo and fell in love.

Just like his wife, Gabriela Michel, Jorge Alberto Aguilera was also born in Mexico City. However, he is two years younger than her and is now 63 years old (born in February 1962).

The voice and dubbing artist rose to fame by lending his voice to the play Oz during its 1989 production at the San Jeronimo theater. The following year, Aguilera joined the radio station Kosmo 103.3. He served as an announcer until it went off-air in 1992.

His best role came as the co-host and companion of the children’s television series En Familia con Chabelo (Family Time with Chabelo), alongside actor, comedian, and TV host Xavier Lopez Rodriguez.

They appeared together every Sunday for several seasons from 1990 to 2015. While Rodriguez played the role of the titular Chabelo, Gabriela Michel’s partner appeared as Mr Aguilera.

In the same show, Gabriela Michel served as the stage director and production manager while her first husband, Eugenio Derbez, was a guest host.

Jorge Alberto Aguilera also lent his voice to Spanish versions of the English movies, including Christopher Robin: An Unforgettable Reunion, Finding Nemo, Monsters Inc., Winnie the Pooh, Cars, and the 2019 live-action film, Dumbo. He also dubbed for various commercials, including the Sanborns chain, Televisa channel, CFE, and Toyota Mexico.

He also dubbed animated or short Disney films/ documentaries such as Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: The Best of Both Worlds, Frozen, The Chronicles of Narnia, The Cat, A Dog from Another World, 102 Dalmatians, and Power Rangers: The Movie.

With his daughter, Michelle Aguilera, Jorge also co-hosts the ADR Networks podcast, El Señor Aguilera al Aire (Mr Aguilera on Air). He is also close to his stepdaughter, Aislinn Derbez.

During a past interview with Las Estrellas, Aguilera mentioned raising Aislinn as part of his family, until she left for New York.

“Aislinn and I love each other very much. She’s a well-mannered young woman, a person with strong values, a calm and responsible girl who is having an amazing career,” Jorge said at the time.

Aislinn Derbez, too, shared the same sentiment and added that she shared a mutual respect and affection for her stepfather.
