Who is Heide Bezuidenhout? All we know about Errol Musk’s ex-wives amid sexual abuse allegations from his children

Elon Musk’s father, Errol Musk, a former businessman and politician, has been accused of years of child and sexual abuse by five of his children and stepchildren. According to a report published by The New York Times on September 23, these accounts, gleaned from police reports, court documents, and interviews from the Musk family and social workers, date back to 1993.

The alleged abuse incidents happened in California and South Africa, where Errol Musk, 79, spent his time working and living. Two of his biological daughters and a stepson have accused him of sexual abuse. Likewise, in 2023, his then 5-year-old son complained that his dad had allegedly groped him. At the time, family members and social workers got involved.

Errol Musk’s former stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout, has also accused him of inappropriately touching her in 1993 when she was aged 4. Ten years later, Jana allegedly told her family members that she caught Errol sniffing her dirty underwear.

Jana Bezuidenhout, 38, later became romantically involved with her ex-stepfather and welcomed two children with him. They have since parted ways. She is the daughter of Errol Musk’s ex-wife, Heide Bezuidenhout.

Heide Bezuidenhout was a widow with two children when she married Errol Musk in the early 1990s. She is 20 years his junior. Errol Musk was also married to Maye Haldeman and Sue Wilson.

He has denied the latest allegations in a statement to The New York Times, calling them “false and nonsense in the extreme.” He also said it was the tactics of extended family members to create a scandal and extort money from Elon Musk. The Tesla boss hasn't publicly addressed the allegations against his father.

Errol Musk tied the knot with his first wife, Maye Haldeman, in 1970. They were high school sweethearts. The pair was together for nine years until their divorce in 1979. Maye is a model, former pageant finalist, author, and registered dietitian. She later accused him of domestic violence, which Errol denied, according to Business Standard.

Haldeman is the mother of Errol’s three eldest children, tech billionaire Elon Musk, businessman and restaurateur Kimbal Musk, and filmmaker Tosca Musk.

Maye, 77, has modelled for Time Magazine, Vogue, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and more. She also appeared in ads for various brands, including Dolce & Gabbana, Revlon, Special K cereal, and the Beyoncé music video, Haunted.

May Haldeman is a Canadian national by birth and also has South African and American citizenship. She has a twin and was one of five children. Her 2019 memoir is titled A Woman Makes a Plan: Advice for a Lifetime of Adventure, Beauty, and Success.

She has received an honorary doctorate from the University of the Free State. Haldeman and Elon Musk appeared on the Mother’s Day episode of SNL in 2021. Maye told Elle in 2018:

“I definitely think the beauty industry is wising up. We are seeing a lot more representation and different people. I never thought I'd be a CoverGirl at almost 70.”

For a brief time, Errol was married to another model named Sue Wilson. Not much is known about her. The couple did not have any children.

Later, the Musk family patriarch walked down the aisle with Heide-Mari Bezuidenhout in 1992. They separated years later and divorced in 2004. Errol was a stepfather to three of her children, including Jana, from a previous marriage. During their marriage, Heide and Musk Sr. had two daughters, Alexandra and Asha Rose.

Errol Musk also had two children with her adult ex-stepdaughter, Jana Bezuidenhout. Notably, she first accused him of child abuse in the early 1990s and later filed for a protection order in her 20s, as per Business Insider.

But the duo later reconciled and formed a romantic relationship and domestic partnership. Jana gave birth to two of Errol’s kids, a son named Elliot Rush, nicknamed Rushi, and a daughter whose name remains undisclosed, according to The U.S. Sun.
