More about Pedro Moreno and his arrest
The Cuban actor was arrested on Thursday after an altercation with his wife, Bárbara Estévez, with whom he's in the process of getting a divorce. The altercation took place at around 11:20 pm on Wednesday.
According to reports from NBC Miami, Pedro asked his wife for her phone; after she handed it over, he began snooping through it, which led to an argument about infidelity.
His wife said he was continuously snooping through her phone and wouldn't return it. Their eldest daughter witnessed the incident and offered her phone to Bárbara, who then called the police. When she was on the phone with the police, Pedro returned her phone.
Pedro Moreno was initially arrested on charges of strong-arm robbery. However, the judge determined there was no probable cause for that charge and instead found probable cause for battery. Bárbara then showed up in the court and pleaded that the case be dismissed. She said:
''I didn’t know that by calling, they would have to do a full investigation and basically take him in, otherwise I would've never called because he was never violent.''
She continued:
"Is there any way of dismissing the case? He’s not a violent person… we've never had an issue like this before.''
They were then informed by the court that the decision is up to them whether to file the case or not. As per reports, Pedro's wife was not injured during the scuffle, and as of Thursday, Pedro was held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, as per Local 10.
Pedro was then granted a $1,000 bond, and his stay-away order was also modified. Pedro has gained popularity over the years in films, television, and theatre. He appeared in films including La hora de Salvador Romer, Loving the Bad Man, and Hunted by Night.
He currently appears in the Mexican telenovela, A.mar, donde el amor teje sus redes, as one of the leads playing the role of Gabriel Arenas Neira. He lives in Miami, Florida.
