On Sunday night (November 16), New York City rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine’s home in Lake Worth, Florida, was invaded by four masked gunmen, TMZ reported. The publication also obtained surveillance footage that showed the intruders roughly dealing with the rapper’s mother, including holding her at gunpoint.

Tekashi 6ix9ine, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is the son of a Mexican mother, Natividad Perez-Hernandez, and a Puerto Rican father, Daniel Hernandez Sr.

According to the security footage, Natividad, 60, was held against her will and appeared to be scared as the family’s dog roamed around the house, seemingly confused by the home invasion. She was also seen begging the intruders to let her go.

Reports suggest that the four-armed men entered Tekashi’s house through the unlocked garage. One of them, dubbed “mom chaperone,” was posted with Natividad, while the rest ransacked through the house looking for cash and car keys, the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office told TMZ.

Later, the group fled in a getaway car parked nearby before the authorities responded to the crime. They did not take anything. The case is currently under investigation.

All you need to know about Tekashi 6ix9ine’s parents

Tekashi 6ix9ine was born in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn in May 1996. He was raised by a single mother, Natividad Perez-Hernandez, who was a factory worker and house cleaner from Atlixco, Puebla, Mexico. The rapper has an older brother named Oscar. Their Puerto Rican stepfather was killed outside the family home in 2010.

His estranged father, Daniel Hernandez Sr, 65, was an immigrant from Rio Piedras, San Juan, Puerto Rico. Tekashi briefly met him when he was nine. Daniel Sr spent time in prison for drug possession and selling.

During the rapper’s December 2019 trial at the Manhattan Federal Courthouse, he reunited with his biological dad. While the father wanted to take the stand at the sentencing hearing, the judge wouldn't allow him. The prosecution and the defense appeared to agree on the same.

Meanwhile, Tekashi 6ix9ine broke down inside the courtroom when he saw his dad. But while addressing the court, he stated:

“I took one glance — I see my biological father. I haven’t seen him since the third grade. I don’t even know if this is a f**kin’ joke, everything I go through.”

Later, Daniel Sr told reporters outside that he wants to reconcile with his son.

“I feel glad that he's safe in there [prison]. Because in there, nothing is going to happen. Outside, they're going to try to kill him because of all the stuff that he was saying. It's a scary situation. He's a target,” the father noted.

At the trial, Hernandez Jr was sentenced to 2 years in prison, with 13 months served due to several charges such as attempted murder and armed robbery related to his involvement with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods gang.

Additionally, the Gummo artist, who was arrested in late 2018, also received 5 years of supervised release, 300 hours of community service, and a fine of $35,000.

Ahead of his sentencing, Tekashi’s mother wrote a letter to the court calling him a god-fearing and humble man, who had an “immense and giving heart.”

“In the name of Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on my son… His public image and appearance do not reflect the heart he always had and still has. He knows what it feels like to go to bed hungry. He knows the pain of loss and the suffering of depression,” Natividad wrote.
She added, “Danny knows what it’s like to want to help but not have the means to do it. He has vowed a life of humility and big-heartedness, despite his fame.”

In July 2021, Tekashi 6ix9ine went viral after his father shared in an exclusive video obtained by Page Six that his song gave money to everyone, except him, despite knowing that he was homeless.

However, the rapper defended himself by telling DJ Akademiks:

“Everybody knows I was abandoned at birth. Everybody knows that my biological father abandoned me at birth. Right now, he’s in a shelter smoking crack. The story of me not giving money to a crackhead who abandoned me at birth is getting more publicity than the positive things. Why? Because it’s a trend to hate me.”

During the recent home invasion, Tekashi 6ix9ine was at a livestreaming session with Jack Doherty in Miami.

As per his social media statement, he got permission for the stream despite being on house arrest. However, when the news circulated online, the burglars seemingly took the “opportunity” to terrorize his mother and dog.

According to Hot New Hip Hop, Tekashi 6ix9ine is scheduled to appear for a sentencing hearing later this week for violating the terms of his supervised release in August. He is looking at three to nine months in prison.
