A Los Angeles-based fitness chain called Gold’s Gym is now under fire after Tish Hyman claimed that her membership was revoked for protesting against a “man” using the women’s locker room, according to the New York Post. Hyman, 42, is a Bronx-born singer, songwriter, rapper, and record producer who is now based in LA. Over the weekend, she shared multiple videos of herself inside the Gold’s Gym, confronting what appeared to be a trans woman for being inside the women’s locker room. In a Facebook post, she wrote:“This person told me HE was a woman and demanded that I leave the women’s locker room… Staff said their hands were tied by law — they couldn’t make him leave. I was naked, scared, and being yelled at. He called me a b*tch in front of everyone.”Tish Hyman stated there was another young woman in the bathroom who reportedly “froze up” and was left “completely traumatized,” eventually thanking her for raising her voice.“I’ve been told I could lose my music career if I speak out… but I’m a woman before an artist, and I stand for what’s right. This is wrong and extremely dangerous. Any man can claim to be a woman and walk into women’s spaces — putting us at risk of harassment or assault,” she noted. In the wake of her experience, Hyman’s month-old petition on change.org has gained momentum. Titled “Protect Women's Only Spaces Nationwide: Privacy & Safety Legislation in 50 states,” it has earned over 1,500 signatures as of writing.Tish Hyman's petition is gaining momentum.
