16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis was denied entry to her son Weston Gosa Jr.'s funeral on Saturday, June 14, 2025. The funeral was held at a private service in Gordon County, Georgia.
The reason why Whitney was denied entry was that she arrived late for the funeral. According to a source close to Purvis, who told TMZ, the service had begun at 2 p..m, with the main funeral proceedings shortly after.
The source said that Whitney was informed by Weston Gosa Sr, her ex-husband, that the service would begin at 4 p.m. However, when she showed up at 4 p.m., she was informed that the service had already begun and that her name was not on the guest list.
Why was Whitney Purvis denied entry to her son's funeral?
When Whitney and her family arrived at the funeral at 4 pm, they were denied entry and had to return. Purvis claims that the timing was told to her by Weston Gosa Sr. However, Gosa has a different story to tell.
He claimed that he had called everyone, including Whitney, and told her that the viewing would be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and the service would begin right at 4 p.m. He also said that he mentioned that it will be a tightly monitored event with a strict guest list. He said that Purvis showed up around 4:15 p.m., and by that time, the service was underway and the chapel doors were closed, as per TMZ.
Gosa also mentioned that after Purvis and her family had to return back she texted him, accusing him of being evil for keeping her out of the funeral. Gosa added that he and his wife Amy kept a separate urn containing Weston Jr.'s ashes for Whitney, as a gesture of compassion, as she missed the event, as reported by The New York Post.
On June 3, 2025, Purvis announced the death of her son on her Instagram with a picture of her and Weston Jr and penned a note in the caption. It read:
"I will always cherish our memories together, the songs you use to love, your laugh, the phases you would go through, the little dolphin noise you use to do when you were younger, your smile, your jokes, the first day of school, playing with you, your first time swimming, making crafts, how you would dance in your crib to the law and order svu theme song, being a great big brother, the first time I held you and the last hug I gave you. I love you, Weston more than words could ever describe. Rest in peace, my beautiful boy."
Weston Gosa Jr. died unexpectedly in Georgia on June 2, 2025. His family had found him unresponsive at their home, and they attempted CPR, but he didn't respond, as per The Sun. Weston Jr suffered from health conditions including type 1 diabetes, Addison’s disease, and Alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, and his family is waiting for the autopsy reports.
