Lee Yi-Kyung has shared that he will be going on a short hiatus after a recent controversy. The Curtain Call actor made headlines after alleged explicit chats with a fan surfaced online. However, his agency, Sangyoung ENT, quickly stepped in, clarifying that the claims were false and that Yi-Kyung had no involvement in the situation.

They wrote in a statement:

"The rumors are entirely unfounded. We will hold those responsible accountable to protect the actor’s reputation."

The involved individual, identified as 'A', cleared the rumours by saying that the images of the chat between them and the actor were fake and generated using AI.

'A' issues a public apology to Lee Yi-Kyung

Two days after A posted the fake chat photos, they took to their X account and wrote a public apology. They explained how they used AI to create the images of the explicit chats between Korean actor Lee Yi-Kyung and themselves.

They wrote on their X post:

"Hello to the people of Korea. I uploaded a lot of images recently about actor Lee Yi Kyung, but I never expected a post that started as a prank to gain this much attention... As I kept posting and creating AI photos, I started to believe my own narrative. What began as fan admiration slowly turned into emotional immersion. I deeply apologize to Lee Yi Kyung for spreading harmful rumors."

Since the post was written in Korean, A explained that they are a Russian native, which is why their Korean might be a little off. A concluded the apology post by writing:

"I feel guilty. If there's anything I must take responsibility for, I will. As a German, my Korean might be awkward—please understand."

What did Lee Yi-Kyung do during the controversy?

Lee Yi-Kyung was innocent throughout the entire ordeal, as his agency claimed. Amid the controversy, he did not cancel any of the plans he had made, including an appearance on tvN's reality show, Handsome Guys.

Yi-Kyung performed his tasks with a cheery demeanor, showing the fans his bright and sunny personality. He also participated happily in selling 50 hot dogs as part of a penalty task.

However, after his appearance on the show, he revealed that he will be taking a short break from the entertainment industry.

In his words:

"I’ll take a short break to recharge and come back refreshed."

Despite being proven innocent, Lee Yi-Kyung has decided to take a short break to focus on himself and recover from the controversy. His positive attitude throughout the ordeal earned him praise from fans.
