Cameos are one of the best parts in K-dramas, and this time we're talking about Lee Yi-kyung and Ruwoon's special appearance in Confidence Queen. Featuring Park Min-young, Park Hee-soon, and Joo Jong-hyuk in the leading roles, the story is about three con artists.
Unlike typical tricksters who steal money from anyone, these three only use their intelligence and skills to expose corrupt figures. They aim to trick only the greedy elite groups and reveal the rot inside such circles.
As seen in the first episode, Yi-rang, James, and Gu-ho tricked gamblers, and after taking their money, they let the police handle the case. This way, these con artists live an incredibly luxurious life, especially Yi-rang, who also happens to be the group's mastermind.
And to make the K-drama even more engaging, the makers added Lee Yi-kyung and Ruwoon in a cameo. The appearance was special because Lee is known for playing Park Min-young's first husband in another hit K-drama, Marry My Husband.
He cheated on Park's character and later got dumped. And in Confidence Queen, Park's Yi-rang tricks Lee's characters as a part of her plan to steal another big, corrupt figure. Whereas Ruwoon, whom fans would immediately recognize from Extraordinary You, also played a role in the latest K-drama.
Lee Yi-kyung and Ruwoon's cameo in Confidence Queen explored
As previously explained, actress Park Min-young reunited with her Marry My Husband co-star in Confident Queen, in which she can be seen tricking Lee's character, Yoo Myung Han, in episodes 3 and 4. What's even more interesting is that just like his previous K-drama, Lee again appears as a bad guy, and the third episode is titled Déjà Vu (a clever nod).
The actor shed light on his reunion with Park and said:
"Thanks to our previous experience working together for ‘Marry My Husband,’ we were able to maintain great chemistry and have fun during filming this time as well..."
He is a corrupt figure, and Yi-rang is determined to expose him, just like Ji-won did in Marry My Husband. The cameo doesn't end here. Ruwoon, who rose to fame through Extraordinary You and other K-dramas, also shows up in Confidence Queen. He can be seen playing a manager whom James handles.
The episode is packed with humor and intrigue as the con artists try their best to trick Myung-han. Yi-rang gets him drunk while Gu-ho manages to sneak inside his room and find the hidden locker behind a huge painting, and gets his hands on all of Myung-han's cash.
However, the security identifies a threat, and Myung-han immediately starts suspecting Yi-rang, who claimed to be a woman named Olivia. Despite the challenge, the con artists continue with their plan to empty Myung-han's lockers and expose his shady business.
Since Lee plays the main villain in these episodes, Ruwoon's appearance is comparatively less. However, the actor ensured to give his best and leave a mark on his fans with just a limited appearance on Confidence Queen.
Confidence Queen is available to stream on Prime Video in more than 240 countries.
