The most-anticipated K-drama of Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy: Genie, Make a Wish, arrived on October 3, 2025, on Netflix and gave a major throwback moment that no fan saw coming. Ever imagined Choi Young-do returning in a 2025 K-drama?
Yes, you read that right! Kim Woo-bin briefly transforms into his iconic The Heirs character, Choi Young-do, in episode 7 of Genie, Make a Wish, to bring back the 2013 nostalgia that fans didn't know they needed.
And the best part? The actor can be heard speaking one of his most iconic lines from the 2013 K-drama when he met Cha Eung-sang outside a store. Fans are praising the writer for adding this reference in the 2025 K-drama, which is packed with humor, emotions, and above all, never-ending love between the main leads.
A detailed look into the fun easter egg in episode 7 is right below.
Kim Woo-bin's Iblis transforms into Choi Young-do in Genie, Make a Wish episode 7
Genie, Make a Wish marked the reunion between Kim Woo-bin and Bae Suzy after the two starred in Uncontrollably Fond, and while fans knew that they might get brief references in the K-drama, no one expected the writer to add The Heirs reference in one of the episodes.
As mentioned previously, Kim Woo-bin's Iblis tries to brainwash K-young using emotions in episode 7 of Genie, Make a Wish. He plans to manipulate her with love, joy, and sorrow, and while doing that, Iblis also brings back Choi Young-do from The Heirs.
Ka-young is surprised to see him, as Iblis says Young-do's popular dialogue:
"Why are you always holding stuff like that? Makes me want to protect you. [in a very Youngdo style]"
To make it even more engaging, Ka-young admits that it's "oddly convincing" to see Iblis like this. She then starts questioning him about female Genies, as Ka-young is curious to know about his ex-lover.
This way, the scene becomes the highlight of episode 7 as it hits nostalgia and reminds viewers of Kim Woo-bin's most liked roles. And before becoming Young-do, Genie also transformed into Han Ki-joo from Lovers in Paris and Moon Daong-eun from The Glory, but only Young-do could impress Ka-young.

What did Kim Woo-bin say about his latest K-drama Genie, Make a Wish

Genie, Make a Wish kicked off with a story packed with humorous moments, and concluded on an emotional note for Genie and Ka-young. The final episodes are packed with emotions as the main characters had to give up their lives until they were reborn, and this finale even brought tears to Kim Woo-bin's eyes.
The actor said:
"When I read the script, I cried a lot while reading it. As I kept turning the pages, those emotions just built up."
The actor continued:
"Then while filming with Ka-young, when I looked at her face [the ending] hit me so much harder than I had imagined."
By the end, Iblis gives up and bows down in front of the human. He does this because he wasn't ready to take Ka-young's life as she becomes the woman he loves the most. Later, Genie also learned that Ka-young would die soon, making the moment even more heartbreaking.
