Will there be a Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Season 2? Speculations explored

The K-drama that fans didn't want to end has finally concluded, and now the big question is: Will there be a Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Season 2? As of now, there's no update on whether the K-drama will have another chapter.

The story began with the world's one of the most talented chefs, Yeon Ji-young, winning the biggest French cooking competition and becoming the head chef of a Michelin-three-star restaurant. As Ji-young was about to begin her dream life, she ended up in the Joseon era, almost 500 years back in time.

There, she meets King Lee-heon, who, according to history, was a tyrant and known for his cruelty. But as seen in the K-drama, the reason why Lee-heon hated his family was due to his mother's untimely death by poison.

He spends time with Ji-young and even makes her the chief royal cook. Her culinary skills not only won hearts in Joseon but also impressed the Ming chefs, whom Ji-young defeated in a cooking showdown.

By the end of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Yeon Ji-young and Lee-heon reunite in the future. The King promised Ji-young that he would find her no matter what, and was able to fulfill the promise by meeting her in the future and staying with her.

Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Season 2 is not confirmed: Here's what we know

As previously mentioned, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Season 2 hasn't been confirmed by tvN or Netflix. The K-drama followed an acclaimed web novel, which does not have a sequel. So, it's very unlikely that the show will return for another chapter.

However, fans demanded more episodes as the K-drama became incredibly popular worldwide, and even topped Netflix in many countries. So, twelve episodes felt quite less, but the story kept viewers hooked till the very last episode.

From comedic moments to heartfelt confessions between Ji-young and the King, Bon Appétit, Your Majesty emerged as a breakout drama featuring Yoona and Lee Chae-min. And now that the finale is also out, all that fans are curious about is whether there's any chance to see Lee and Yoon returning to their screens.

Revisiting the ending of Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, and speculating what a potential follow-up could feature

Episode 11 left fans worried about Ji-young and Lee-heon's future, and watching her die and leave the Joseon era in the finale felt like she might not be able to meet the King again.

However, the K-drama surprised viewers by completing the love story: Yeon Ji-young goes back to the future, and Lee-heon follows her. Not only this, but her other beloved people, including Song-jae, Gil-geum, and the cooks, are reincarnated.

The only person who comes from the Joseon era in the future is King Lee-heon, and in history, he is belived to have disappeared. The reason turns out to be his decision to stay with the woman he cherishes the most.

And if there was a Bon Appétit, Your Majesty Season 2, fans would love to know how Lee-heon found Ji-young, whether Jinmyeong was able to become a wise King, and what happened to Gong-gil and others.

Though the ending was just as fans wanted, the K-drama didn't answer a few questions. So, if tvN or Netflix ever wishes to renew the show, it would be intriguing to watch Ji-young and Lee-heon's new journey as he's no longer a King and has to live as a normal human.
