Sexual assault charges against professional football wide receiver Isaiah Bond have been dropped following the latest jury ruling. The decision to clear Isaiah Bond of sexual assault charges comes after a Collin County grand jury issued a 'no bill,' indicating there was not enough evidence to proceed.
Speaking to CBS News Texas, Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis stated:
"After reviewing all the evidence presented, a Collin County grand jury returned a 'no bill' in the sexual assault charge involving Isaiah Bond, meaning no indictment will be issued. This concludes the criminal proceedings in this matter."
The twenty-one-year-old was accused of a non-consensual encounter in April. According to the woman, Bond tried to pressure her with a non-disclosure agreement and later proposed money to apologize. Bond denied the claims, calling it consensual, and later filed a dismissed lawsuit against the woman.
On an X post, uploaded on April 11, he wrote:
"Regarding the accusation made against me, I would appreciate the time and opportunity to defend myself and prove the claims made, patently false. I am in full cooperation with the authorities and will remain a willing and active participant in the investigation."
As per the latest decision, Bond is free of all charges related to the case.
Isaiah Bond uploads a statement on X after the jury decision
Following the jury’s ruling, Isaiah Bond released a statement on X to share his perspective. In the post, he wrote:
"I know there have been questions and reports about the recent allegations. I am grateful for the decision of the prosecutor and the courts not to pursue charges. I will learn from this experience as I grow in wisdom, character, and faith. On the advice of my attorney, I will not discuss the details of this case, but I want to be clear: from the very beginning I have refuted these allegations and maintained my innocence. I stand firm by that today."
Mentioning Browns, he added:
"I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Cleveland Browns for believing in me and allowing me the opportunity to continue my career in the NFL."
Bond also thanked the Cleveland Browns’ owner, Jimmy Haslam, and Andrew Berry, his agent Damien Butler, the CMV Sports staff, attorneys Toby Shook and Kristen Mohr, trainer Ursula Heyner, and his parents, Penny and Edward Bond, for their support.
Ending his statement, he wrote:
"I'm determined to prove the Browns organization and everyone who believes in me right for putting their trust in me."
Although Bond has referenced his new contract with the Browns, the team has yet to officially confirm the deal.
