Tori Spelling, the TV personality and actress known for her role in the drama series Beverly Hills, 90210, recently opened up on her podcast and shared about how she now prefers a 'situationship' over traditional dating.
Spelling had made a public separation announcement from her ex-husband, Dean McDermott, on Instagram back in June 2023, which she later deleted. Then she officially filed for divorce on March 29, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason.
On her podcast, she explained her reasons for choosing a 'monogamous situationship.' She said that parenting her five kids and her career were some of the reasons she prefers a situationship over traditional dating.
More about Tori Spelling on 'monogamous situationship'
On the latest episode of Tori Spelling’s podcast, misSPELLING, titled "Miss Ask Me Anything," the Kiss the Bride star discussed her hopes for a monogamous yet flexible relationship. In the episode, she said:
''The new thing is not a relationship, but a monogamous situationship. So, that would fit really nicely into my life because, honestly, right now, I'm focused on my kids and I'm focused on work…It's like a situationship, but you're not with anyone else. So it just kind of goes with your time and freedom and they're there.''
She continued:
“Like, with my five kids, I can't imagine bringing a guy into this world. He would be like, Ah! And run screaming. So while the kids are still semi-young, maybe I find a monogamous situationship."
Spelling is a mum to five children, including Liam, 18, Stella, 17, Hattie, 13, Finn, 12, and Beau, 8.
During an episode of the misSPELLING podcast with Aubrey O'Day, released on April 4, 2025, Tori shared that she was not on dating apps. During the conversation, she said:
''I don't want to be with somebody, but I do want to be. I just don't want to be alone.''
She then broke down and said:
''You know me. I'm positive. I just — I don't want to die alone. I don’t know what I’m doing right now.''
She then added:
''They should sample my DNA when they f------ go to the next world war. Whatever the f--- I am, I’m resilient, but what does it mean at the end of the day?''
In an interview with People in March 2025, Tori shared about their struggles with confidence. She had said:
"It's something I'm definitely still working on. I think people assume when you're in this business, you're an actor and you're famous and you speak [that] you're so confident. I've had a lack of confidence my entire life and I never felt worthy enough."
Tori and McDermott were married for 17 years before they parted ways in 2023.
