Will there be another sequel to Another Simple Favor? Here's what we know

Paul Feig's black comedy A Simple Favor recently has a sequel titled Another Simple Favor, which, unlike the first film, didn't entirely get favorable reviews. The first film made almost $100 million against a $20-million budget, but the sequel went directly to Amazon Prime Video, and revenue details have not been established.

Now that the two films are in the market, some might be thinking about another simple sequel, but there's no official announcement yet. Until that comes, we cannot say anything for sure.

Feig, however, had this to say when he recently appeared in an interview with People:

"I definitely know where I want it to go. We'll see if everybody wants to do a third one. It was too much fun — I would love to get back together with this group and these characters and send them on an even weirder, international adventure, if possible."

The film stars Blake Lively in the lead, as the triplets Hope/Emily, Faith and Charity. She is, as you can imagine, a proper (con) artist. Then there is Anna Kendrick in a major role, too, as Stephanie Smothers, who becomes a true crime writer in Another Simple Favor. There's another special guest who sadly didn't make it to the sequel.

The first film begins with Stephanie. She runs a vlog and later becomes friends with Lively's Emily Nelson, who claims to be working in a fashion company. However, Emily is lying and she disappears as the story advances. This leads Stephanie to become a sleuth and dig for the truth about her.

Stephanie later discovers the truth — that Emily is actually a con artist. This is also where Blake's triplet characters, Hope, Faith, and Charity, come to light.

While all of this is happening, Emily returns and asks for the insurance money her husband has withdrawn. She was assumed to be dead but this is exactly what she wanted, as it was all a part of her plan to take away the money once it was withdrawn.

Another Simple Favor raises the bar in this comic story where the naive Stephanie is now a true crime author and has settled in her life. Although she doesn't want to see Emily again, they eventually reunite, this time at Emily's wedding.

However, a big shocker comes when she realizes that one of her sisters who was presumed dead, Charity, is at her wedding. She comes with an evil aunt who plans to rob Hope (Emily's real name) of her fortune that she raked in through her insurance fraud.

We won't spoil Another Simple Favor's ending for you, but the story doesn't seem likely to continue after what happened. If there is a new adventure Feig has in mind, we don't see how it could be continued after the end of the film, into a potential third film.

Whatever happens, we still need an official confirmation before we can speculate where the story might go next.
