The fourth issue of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time features something interesting. The cover of the fourth issue of the series features the Merc with a Mouth/Wade Wilson going up against none other than the iconic Marvel antagonist, Victor Von Doom. There's a twist, though. Wade's body is stretched like Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic, and one of his hands is invisible, while the other his on fire, and shaped like a rock.
The cover of Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #4 is interesting because it features easter eggs related to not one but two different major Marvel characters: the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom. The Merc with a in this new comic book series is armed with not only the powers of the Fantastic Four but also with Captain America's shield.
This cover has fans wondering if this storyline will be adapted for the big screen starring Ryan Reynolds. Honestly speaking, it may feel that Marvel intentionally published this storyline to encourage fans to demand an adaptation of this comic. Thus, while nothing has officially been confirmed, this comic might be adapted into a movie in the future.
Explaining Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time:
Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time is the third entry in the popular Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe series of comics, which began 13 years ago, back in 2012. The series follows a version of the Merc With a Mouth whose comedic personality is replaced with a darker one as he is tortured by the supervillain Psycho-Man, who is under the disguise of Wade's doctor.
Wade manages to escape captivity, kill Psycho-Man, and proceeds to kill every Marvel hero and villain across realities. Now, the third entry in this popular Trilogy of comic book series features a Merc With a Mouth who has gained another mysterious ability: to collect the superpowers of other Marvel superheroes as well, and his repository of superpowers is only set to grow further.
In Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe One Last Time #4, which is written by Cullen Bunn, Doom injects Wade Wlsom with something called a Super Skrull mutagen.
This move could spell doom for Doom, as the mutagen only added to the Merc With a Mouth's power set as it theoretically grants Wade the ability to mimic superpowers and even shape-shifting abilities, much like the Skrulls in the comics and even the MCU.
It needs to be said that the comic book version of Wade Wilson is known for being an unhinged superpowered mercenary who frequently crosses the line and breaks the fourth wall to the reader. In firm contrast, the MCU version of Wade seems to be someone who breaks the fourth wall like his comic-book counterpart, but is comparatively better adjusted than him. This begs the question:
Will the MCU adapt this series?
As mentioned before, Marvel may adapt this popular comic book series somewhere in the future. But it is unclear if Ryan Reynolds will be the one in the Merc With a Mouth's iconic red costume. Back in July 2024, Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy sat down for an interview with Variety to promote the then-upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine.
In that interview, Reynolds addressed whether he is returning as the Merc With a Mouth or not:
"I don’t know. I could see any version of it. I can imagine a solo movie, being part of an ensemble. I can imagine that this is also the last time. I never feel anything other than that."
