We finally have a writer for the next James Bond film, which Dune's Denis Villeneuve is directing. Amazon MGM Studios confirmed that British screenwriter Steven Knight will be writing the film. He has written films including Jason Statham's Hummingbird (2013), The Girl in the Spider's Web (2018), Burnt (2015), and more, but is primarily known as the creator of Peaky Blinders.
He recently stopped by BBC's Radio 5 Live Breakfast, where he discussed some bits about the upcoming film that still has a lot of mystery to uncover. But one thing was clear: he already knows how this next spy adventure will be. He said,
"It has always been on my bucket list and it’s fantastic to be invited to do it — I can’t wait to get started,” the Englishman said. “I’m hoping that, being a Bond fan for so many years, it will be imbued into me and I will be able to produce something that’s the same but different, and better, stronger and bolder."
Steven Knight has been nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for Dirty Pretty Things (2002) and a couple of British Academy Film Awards, one for Dirty Pretty Things and another for Eastern Promises (2007).
Has the next James Bond actor been finalized?

Sadly, as of this writing, the hunt for the next superspy is still on. Recently, Taron Egerton, who played the rough street kid turned spy Eggsy in the Kingsman franchise, was asked about playing the iconic character. However, he believes that he isn't a good fit for this. He said,
"I don't think I'm a good choice for it. I think I'm too messy for that. I think I'm not."
There's a high probability that we will again get a British actor for the role, as some insiders (per Variety) say that Amazon MGM Studios wants that. And some pretty good names have become fan favorites over time, including Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Holland, and more.
Whenever we get to know who will play James Bond, it may give us a gist of how the next film in the long-running franchise will play out.
If we are to see a young actor for the role, chances are that we may see a Young Bond storyline, which has never been adapted for a film, next. However, Charlie Higson, who created this storyline, says,
"There's a lot of interest from film companies and from Hollywood but we're going to hold off for the time being."
When might the next James Bond film arrive?

According to Variety, it is likely that Amazon MGM Studios is considering a 2028 release date for it. Additionally, there's no title for the movie either, and it is being called Bond 26 for now.
The last film in the franchise, No Time to Die, was released in 2021 and served as the final one for Daniel Craig's James Bond. Out of his five Bond films, two have over 90% critics' approval at Rotten Tomatoes: Casino Royale (2006) and Skyfall (2012).
