"Y’all better actually watch this every week": Fans react as The Muppet Show returns on Disney+ with guest star Sabrina Carpenter

On September 17, Disney+ announced the return of The Muppet Show, scheduled to be released in 2026. The announcement was made on Disney Plus's social media, where they wrote:

"It's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, it's time to get things started as The Muppet Show returns for a triumphant event on Disney+ in 2026 with special guest star @SabrinaCarpenter!"

While fans were already excited for The Muppet Show's return, the announcement of Sabrina Carpenter as a special guest added the cherry on top. The streaming service further revealed:

"Muppets Studio and Point Grey Pictures will feature Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, and the gang as they return to the Muppet Theatre to put on a variety show filled with music, comedy, and plenty of chaos."

The news was also shared by actress and singer Sabrina Carpenter on her Instagram story.

According to Variety, the executive producers include Leigh Slaughter, David Lightbody, and Michael Steinbach from The Muppets Studio, along with Eric Jacobson and Matt Vogel, and Seth Rogen, Alex McAtee, James Weaver, and Evan Goldberg of Point Grey Pictures. Along with being a guest star, Sabrina Carpenter is also an executive producer of the show.

Albertina Rizzo will write the episode, with Alex Timbers overseeing the episode’s creative direction, according to Variety. Both will also take on the role of executive producers, as per the outlet. The confirmed release date and full episode details of The Muppet Show are yet to be announced.
