7) The Good Liar
Phil Dunster’s role in this crime thriller adaptation was a minor one — however, being a part of a film with an excellent cast that includes Hollywood legends such as Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren is one of the best opportunities in his career that would later include more popular TV shows and films.
The film follows McKellen’s Roy Courtnay, who plots to con Mirren’s Betty but falls into a covert scheme, which ultimately reveals his true identity as Hans Taub. Dunster plays a young Roy, whose identity Hans had stolen when he came to Germany and died in 1948. The performance and the twists in the film will make you sit on the edge of your seat until the end, making it one of the must-watch movies.
6) Humans

The acclaimed sci-fi series followed the story of a group of synthetic humanoids, called Synths, who initially worked as domestic helpers to the humans but gradually began to develop consciousness of their own. The show is a great watch if you like sci-fi narratives that deal with themes such as AI, humanoids gaining awareness, and the resulting conflicts between them and the humans.
Phil Dunster plays Tristan, a new Synth, who is introduced in season 3 of the series after Day Zero, which killed numerous Synths and humans. He becomes an important part of the series, as in season 3, it focuses more on the troubled relationship between the humans and synths after they have become self-aware.
5) The Trouble with Maggie Cole

In this entertaining comedy drama, Phil Dunster plays Jamie, the son of Maggie and Peter Cole, who lives with his wife, a little away from his parents’ house. The series focuses on Maggie, who accidentally spills some gossip about her village people — some of it happens to be true, which later causes problems in the village.
While Dunster’s Jamie does not appreciate his mother’s meddling behaviour, he is also living with a secret of his own, which, other than his father, nobody knows about. It is a great binge-watch with a six-episode series and a concise but enjoyable story.
4) Murder on the Orient Express

What better way would there be than to star in Agatha Christie’s murder mystery adaptation that also stars Kenneth Branagh, Willem Dafoe, and several other big names in Hollywood, in the early years of one’s career. Phil Dunster became a part of this big Hollywood project and appeared in a flashback scene as Col. John Armstrong, who committed suicide after the tragic events that occurred in his family.
Later, Brannagh’s Poirot discovers that the murder victim of the Orient Express was the notorious killer, John Cassetti, who killed an infant named Daisy, the daughter of Dunster’s John Armstrong, due to which tragic occurrences befell the family. While the role was brief, it was also an important plotline of the story and gave Phil Dunster a chance to be a part of a stellar cast.
3) Strike Back: Retribution

Phil Dunster appeared in the sixth series of the Strike Back franchise, which followed Section 20 of a multinational Special Forces team who are tasked to find out about a terrorist named Omar Idrisi and his wife, Jane Lowry.
In this action-packed and gripping tale, Dunster appears as a communications officer, Lance Corporal Will Jensen, who was tortured by the terrorist they were looking for. Later, Jensen faces a tragic fate after he learns about the involvement of someone from the team with Idrisi’s wife, Lowry. This is a different role from all Dunster's other roles as he shines through the moments he appears on the show, making it one of the must-watch series if you are a fan of Phil Dunster.
2) The Devil's Hour

This popular supernatural thriller follows the story of Lucy (Jessica Raine), struggling in her personal life due to strange visions that occur to her, which later point to a deeper meaning related to murders that happened around her. Phil Dunster appears as Lucy’s estranged husband, Mike Stevens, who is scared by their son Isaac's distant behavior but tries to be there for his family, until he can’t hide his true feelings.
You might be acquainted with seeing Dunster play a lighthearted and sometimes a little aggressive role, but this one is a different character from his previous ones and shows the actor's versatility through Mike’s struggles with being scared by his own son, but also trying to be a father to him.
1) Ted Lasso

Ted Lasso is by far Phil Dunster’s most popular show and not just due to the overall greatness of the series but also because of his character, Jamie Tartt. The show follows an American football coach, Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), who has been hired to coach AFC Richmond, in London, with no experience in English football but still manages to make the team one of the best.
Other than Ted’s story, the show also focuses on the lives and struggles of the players, one of whom is Dunster's Jamie, who initially appears to be one of the most hated characters due to his egotistical personality, but with the exceptional character growth that Jamie has shown, made him one of the fan favorites.
