General Hospital's Tabyana Ali stars in a new feature film

Tabyana Ali couldn't wait to show off her brand-new project -- away from the General Hospital scene.

Tabyana Ali is a young woman of many talents. Two years ago, she took over the role of General Hospital's Trina Robinson from the popular Sydney Mikayla and made the character her own. In 2023, she released a new children's book called My Super B after publishing her first book, My Flower Child, in 2020. Now, Ali can't contain her excitement about the new movie Empire Waist.

"THE OFFICIAL POSTER DROP!!" Ali exclaimed in an Instagram post next to a snap of the flick's poster art. "I can't wait for everyone to see this amazing film directed/written by @claireayoub (who I absolutely love and honored to know.) I'm really grateful to be a part of this spectacular film. This was such a dream job! I wish I could go back in time and shoot this feature all over again!! Can't wait for you to meet all of the lovable, inspiring, and talented cast/characters!!"

Ali's co-stars quickly congratulated the young actress, including Brook Kerr (Portia Robinson), who said she would be getting tickets on opening day. Eden McCoy (Josslyn Jacks) and Giovanni Mazza (Gio Palmeri) were also excited for Ali.

According to IMDb, Empire Waist tells the story of a group of teenage girls who "overcome social bias through inclusive fashion design and friendship." The movie's title describes a type of dress cut in the fashion world. Ali plays the character of Honor in the film. Mia Kaplan, Rainn Wilson, and Missy Pyle also star in Empire Waist.

The film has a body-positive theme and aims to help young women feel good about themselves. To attain that goal, producers plan to release the Empire Waist Confidence Curriculum in conjunction with Gillette Venus to help promote self-confidence in teens and tweens, according to Deadline.

Empire Waist is set to make its theatrical debut on September 27.
